whois · 16/07/2014 18:31

No. That's well demeaning to tell her how to do her job.

Toottootoffwego · 16/07/2014 18:31

I do indeed! Not for the school run, obv, but for PTA it's a hit!

I knew you were that type. I could just tell by the way you worded your OP. All "I want a galleon in full sail please...but just at the back."

And then all humpy when she's not got time.

Toottootoffwego · 16/07/2014 18:40

Of course I could do it myself but I don't want to.

Hahaha!!

They always think they know better though.

I DON'T WANT FUCKING LAYERS. "The Rachel" is all well and good. On Jennifer anniston. In the 90s.

YourKidsYourRulesHunXxx · 16/07/2014 18:41

You sound really entitled OP

Show a photo? Even better if it's a photo of yourself when you had a hairstyle you loved.

LadySybilLikesCake · 16/07/2014 18:44

You went to Toni and Guy, didn't you? They only teach them how to do one hair cut, so if you want something else you've got no chance.

ithoughtofitfirst · 16/07/2014 19:14

ladysybil "the shag" ?

LadySybilLikesCake · 16/07/2014 19:18

Fuck knows what I ended up with, but it certainly wasn't a short bob. It took 3 hairdressers to cut off my long hair, which now looks a bit like this. It needs trimming but I'm loathed to do it as she charges the same amount for a trim as for a full cut.

T&G are crap.

That is an actual picture of me above

When I had short hair

If it's not me then I have a doppelgänger

LadySybilLikesCake · 16/07/2014 19:22

Grin It's a fab hair cut, I approve!

Mine's a bit longer at the back now Sad

ithoughtofitfirst · 16/07/2014 19:22

That's a seriously good cut. I would make an absolute pig's arse trying to recreate that myself.

LadySybilLikesCake · 16/07/2014 19:24

Yup. That's why I'm going back for a trim, once I've eBayed my kidney.

MrsWedgeAntilles · 16/07/2014 20:28

My God, you are so not BU. I was all polite and British as my old hairdresser massacred my lovely haircut. I went in looking a bit Belle and Sebastian, came out a bit more like Fran and Anna than any woman in the 21st century would want to.
I went somewhere else, they were lovely but they can't fix it so I'll have to wear a hat until it grows.

spongebob5 · 16/07/2014 21:06

No definately not BU. Every time I go to my hairdresser, she trims my fringe & then says It's not short enough is it? I politely say no & she takes another millimetre off, then says 'what about now?' I say please cut it shorter , cos by next week it'll be tickling my eyelashes again ... I leave the salon knowing that by next week I'll have to start flicking my fringe to one side. Why can't she just cut it how I want it??? I've got to live with it not her. Otherwise she does a lovely cut !

LustyBusty · 16/07/2014 21:17

I love my hairdresser. Grin if I ask for something specific, she does exactly that (from the "a bit like this but with more of this and a little of that" type particularness), and also when I ask for "low maintenance, doesn't make me look like an overweight babyfaced bloke, funky" I get an amazing asymmetric Bob that holds its style for 4 weeks (about an inch growth). Combine that with an Indian head massage and slightly newsreadery blow dry for £30.... Ace!

Melfish · 16/07/2014 21:34

LustyBusty am off to the hairdressers this week and was thinking how to describe that I didn't want to accentuate my hamster cheeks or look like a bloke and I think your description has nailed it!

LustyBusty · 17/07/2014 22:03

melfish it's hard isn't it! Thing is, if I was skinny, I'd have that perfect androgynous face, there's nothing about me facially that says "female". Fortunately, there's also no stubble or Adams Apple, so that's a bonus! I'm also 6ft tall, so when I had a pixie crop, lazy Sundays (wash and go hair, hoody and jeans) were a complete no-go.... I need to have long hair, but it's a faff, normal Bob's have the dual issue of being high maintenance and making me look hamster ish... Luckily this asymmetric Bob seems to work really well. (Fwiw, earlobe length one side, chin length the other, swept fringe to long side. Grin)
