If you wrap the broken glass from the mirror in something red the dispose of it, it negates the bad luck. I read this somewhere (probably Jackie) years ago.

ICanSeeTheSun · 16/07/2014 17:25

I don't believe in superstition, however I would tape over the glass so it don't go every where.

picnicbasketcase · 16/07/2014 17:29

^ Agree with ICanSee. Be careful with it so that you don't get broken glass anywhere and nobody cuts themselves, but don't worry about the effect breaking an object might have on your life.

vicmackie · 16/07/2014 17:30

It's not possible. Breaking a mirror means 7 years bad luck and it's non negotiable.

londonrach · 16/07/2014 17:30

Thanks sorry im the most superstitious person as we had so much bad luck and thus year we been clear so far. It's a wing mirror x 2 of a nsw ro80 we restoring. The mirror has tarnished due to age. So wrap in red and tape over. I never thought we have to do this. Can't I just given it to random person to drop.....

No, the bad luck will still come back on you because you are the one who facilitated the breaking of the mirror.

picnicbasketcase · 16/07/2014 17:32

Vicmackie, really Hmm

tigermoll · 16/07/2014 17:32

OK, I am not at all superstitious, but either a) get someone rational to break the mirror for you (I would happily do it) thus the 'bad luck' is theirs or b) if you continue to 'use' the mirror afterwards it is not considered 'broken' therefore averting the 'bad luck'. So, look into a piece of the mirror after you've broken it. Hey presto, no bad luck.

EarthWindAnd9 · 16/07/2014 17:34

You can buy new wing mirror glass at halfords that just stick over the top of the old ones, no need to break.

tigermoll · 16/07/2014 17:34

...ooh, or paint over the mirror (permanent marker, paint, nail varnish, whatever) before you break it. Then it's not a mirror anymore and can be broken without fear :)

With the power of mns I really hope 7 years luck isn't coming our way. I've had enough cancer, death and moving house in the last 6 years I don't want to repeat. Second one gone.. Hope you right about red. Dh taped over it so no longer a mirror....

OP posts:
wigglesrock · 16/07/2014 17:44

You'll be grand, the superstition is more to with "house" mirrors, car mirrors are a relatively new invention in the scheme of things, the "bad luck" doesn't apply to them.

londonrach · 16/07/2014 17:46

Hoping wiggles really hoping....

londonrach · 18/07/2014 17:46

If you get two black cats to cross your path when you're doing it it should restore your luck balance to the positive.
