Anyone on instagram?

There is a hashtag on there saying "EffYourBeautyStandards"

There is a guy on my feed that regularly posts pictures of his GF with that caption, she does this also.

AIBU to think that the hashtag is rather insulting or is it saying that you don't have to be a size 8 and blonde to be beautiful?

I would be mortified if my DP did this!

Before I go, please remember that those people are REAL PEOPLE with FEELINGS.

Oh and also yes your second idea is right OP, it's saying you don't have to be a size 8 and blonde to be beautiful, you can be any size you want, wear whatever you want. I struggle to think why anybody would have a problem with that but clearly many people do and I'm not in the mood for arguing about it.

I can't help but think that joking about how attractive you feel compared to these people is missing the point of the hashtag somewhat...

The hashtag is about not slating people for their bodies basically whether they are a size 6 or 16
That people don't have to conform to the "acceptable" beauty standards whether that's because they are tattooed or pierced or wear something different or for a million other reasons

I think this sums up my feelings pretty well on the matter.

Not everyone is beautiful

The problem isn't our beauty standards, our problem is giving beauty such importance. Maybe we should work on valuing other traits and stop putting such an emphasis on beauty.
