to think it's the blow dry that makes us fork out for a haircut?

I just cut my own hair. Really couldn't be bothered to spend 30 odd quid paying for something I can do myself. It looks good... apart from not being blow dried to perfection like it is when you leave the salon. It made me think that if I learned to blow dry it really nicely myself then I wouldn't be depriving myself of anything by DIY.

What do you lot think?

RobinSparkles I have a full head of foils & I asked to not have a blow dry, last week.

My hairdresser didnt mind at all, I said it will save me time & money,

She towel dried it after shampooing, then a very rough dry with hairdryer, ( about 2 mins )

Saved myself £20.

At my hairdresser, I ask for (and pay for) a wet cut but they always blow dry it anyway. (I don't mind having it blow dried - I opt for the wet cut based on price).

I think the difference is that if you get the 'cut and blow dry' they cut it again after it's dried to make sure it sits right dried. Is this unusual? Do other places just leave you with wet hair if you ask for a wet cut?

Tbh, unless it was the middle of winter and my hair would turn to ice on the way home, I wouldn't mind leaving with wet hair if it'd save me a tenner!

Oh I hate the blow dry when the poor apprentice has to do it, she spends 45 minutes sectioning and clipping it up and coming and ugh!! and I'm getting more and more tense as I think about it.
Would rather it was rough dried then straightened please, it has the same effect but no tension and teeth clenching or white knuckles from me!

I have thick wavy hair that doesn't go curly or straight without some help and has a natural state of frizzy. I love having it blow dried and I'm just not capable of doing it myself.

So I'm one of those people who sometimes pays for a blow dry. I'd also quite happily pay for curls too, but that takes a lot longer.

I keep thinking that there is some magical hair cut out there that I'll be able to get that will mean I can style my own hair AND leave it down. Haven't found it yet. And seeing as my budget for hair dressing is non-existent these days, the fail safe bun or ponytail it is.

YANBU

If you have long hair, cuts mean nothing, blow dries mean everything!

It took me a while to figure out I could just go and get a blow dry to like my hair rather than have to pay for a cut as well...

Hate blow dry.

I'm honest, I just say at the start, no blow dry thanks, I hate it. (Short dead straight hair here)

Just realised you were asking for help remembering the difference between stationery and stationary - I learnt it by remembering that you get stationery from a stationer's shop. Seemed to work for me, so might be useful for you too. :)

thumbwitch thanks! I can't believe I never knew there were 2 ways of spelling it until my phone offered me the both options.

hedgebets yeah I think, to be fair, if I had a short style I would not even attempt a DIY job. My hair is longish so wasn't difficult to cut. I think I could learn to blow dry by watching online tutorials. She says.
