Last summer myself and DS 3 AND DD 7 (at the time) went camping to a beautiful place in the South of England.

We had a woodland pitch and were surrounded by trees and a short wall with a steep hill behind it.

Anyway, cut this story short, in the middle of the night DD needed to pee and it was too dark to navigate to the toilet or see very much at all in fact. I led her outside of the tent and down a bit to pee in the bushes :/ bad momma She cleaned herself up using tissue paper and asked where she could put the used tissue, we had no bin to hand and I told her to pop it on the wall for the morning and I would clean it when the sun comes up.

Anyway the next morning I could see that the sheet of tissue had blown off the wall and into the trees below, no biggy I thought but didn't give it a 2nd thought.

Anyway, fast forward 1 year and I just emailed to book at the same campsite. Here is the reply I received:

"We wont be taking any bookings from you, as after you left last time, we had to clear up a lot of tissues and wet wipes from over the wall of the pitch. We had to climb over a pick off the tissues which were hanging from the branches. Not nice to do and dangerous as well."

I am MORTIFIED

It was only one sheet of paper, we certainly did not leave wet wipes and tissues behind unless daughter copied her terrible mummy and continued to do this on the other nights

AIBU to think it is a bit harsh banning us from the camp site?!

I detest littering and genuinely feel awful!

So either you or the campsite owners are lying.....

Floggingmolly · 16/07/2014 12:06

You said in your opening post op, there's a possibility your dd did this herself on other occasions. Now you know the full extent of it...

3PacketsOfCrisps · 16/07/2014 12:15

I spoke to her and she blamed her little brother ..

I don't believe theya re lying at all, I am wondering if they are exaggerating or if someone else was responsible for the other tissues etc.

So the whole reason you chose to let her pee outside the tent and leave tissue on the wall was because you didn't want to leave ds3 unattended, but he was able to leave the tent without your knowledge armed with tissue and wet wipes? Haha come on!

windchime · 16/07/2014 13:36

I cannot believe you are even admitting to this on MN. Very grim and very disgusting. Imagine if every camper behaved like that......

WowserBowser · 16/07/2014 13:42

It was just a child's wee on a bit of toilet roll!

Yes, obviously littering is bad but the op had said she didn't mean to.

I am starting to think MN is an alternative universe where everyone is perfect.

My parents used to bury my shits at the beach.

WowserBowser · 16/07/2014 13:43

Disclaimer: i do not advocate shitting at the seaside

whois · 16/07/2014 13:47

My parents used to bury my shits at the beach.

That's fucking rats. Disgusting people! It's one thing digging a hole for a shit in the middle of nowhere, but on a beach where little kids play and you know DIG UP the sand?!? Gross.

OP I doubt your little one would have escaped from the tent at night and littered with wet wipes. Unless he is quiet as a mouse and as adept as Houdini. I would think the campsite owners saw your bit of toilet roll and went over to remove it, and found previous campers gross wet wipes.

So it's a shame you left one bit of toilet roll, but also a shame you're being blamed for the wet wipes.

WowserBowser · 16/07/2014 13:50
Grin

Well they are/were awfully common Wink

I am going to have to ask my Dad tonight now if it's true.

fishchipsandmayonnaise · 16/07/2014 13:57

What wowser said! MN is really a parallel universe sometimes.

It was a bit of wee on a bit of toilet roll, which would have disentegrated very quickly even if the OP hadn't bothered to pick it up. Hardly a huge deal! I am sure people are exposed to a lot worse daily, merely by leaving the house! I'm sure I heard somewhere once that you are never more than 20ft away from a rat in this country...probably not true, but seriously, perspective people, perspective!

emms1981 · 16/07/2014 13:57

I don't believe this story, smells a funny colour

Fixitagaintomorrow · 16/07/2014 13:58

Well that's me put off building sandcastles!

chocolatemademefat · 16/07/2014 14:02

Are you saying you still want to go to the same site knowing that they know what you did last time? And were annoyed enough about it to refuse your booking? You have waaaay more confidence that me! I wouldnt even camp in the same county!

whois · 16/07/2014 14:21

Are you saying you still want to go to the same site knowing that they know what you did last time?

But the OP didn't leave the wet wipes. Her 'crime' was pretty minor really!

Dubjackeen · 16/07/2014 14:28

How could they know who was responsible for the loo roll and wipes?

diddl · 16/07/2014 14:40

I would have thought that it's a few campers that it could have been, and they'll all be banned.

And if OP says it wasn't her, they're still not likely to let her in, are they?

It could of course have been clean stuff that kids had thrown over the wall, but even then, if it appeared after OP pitched there, what are the site supposed to do?
