Lorry comes down our road, collecting the recycling.
The driver is snacking on some small orange fruit. While stationary, he throws some peel and old fruit straight out the lorry window onto the road.

After hesitating, I went up to him and protested. He denied it with a grin. But I had seen him do it twice.
I don't want to report it, because it would be horrible if he lost his job, but I think it is really off for anyone to do this, not least the ones who are meant to be cleaning up our roads.

YABU if you're not going to do anything about it. YANBU to complain about this.

It was brave of you to approach him directly. I think you should consider reporting him though.

I think its less of a crime given that it was fruit since it will just decompose. If it was a crisp packet and a can I think its different.

He won't lose his job for throwing fruit out of a window so if you want to report it go ahead.

I really hate litter. Now the sun is out so many people decide to have picnics or even BBQs in my local park / nature reserve and the place is absolutely littered with beer cans, half eaten food, crisp wrappers, etc.

It really destroys the enjoyment for everyone else and a bin collector should know better surely?

I was tempted to tip some of my old fruit litter into his lorry cab then grin and deny it.

Report it, he won't loose his job but he'll get a warning. I know it's biodegradable but if we all did it we'd be swimming in rotten fruit, nice!

Maybe report to the council without giving a specific name and insist that as part of their training, all bin men for your council should be told the basics which includes NO litter including fruit peel to be dropped.

Then they all know not to do it!
