To feel annoyed with the parents of these children?

DH, ds(3) and I went to a local woodland park today to have a picnic, train ride, walk and play.
All going brilliantly until lunchtime. We sat in a picnic area at a table and started lunch. There was one other table taken by two women and their kids, roughly 4/5 ish.
The children were running around and playing - obviously fine. Except they kept coming up to our table, blowing raspberries at ds and pretending to shoot him wit sticks. At one point one of them managed to hit him with their 'gun'.
Now I know they're only children and were playing but ds was not really happy with being shot and we were not happy with him being distracted from his lunch. We said to them that ds wasn't able to play as he was having his lunch and maybe they should look for monsters 'over there'. Wibu to feel annoyed with the mums who did nothing to stop their children or to get them to play elsewhere in the (sizeable) clearing?

well a bit they just sound like they wanted to get your ds to play with them

There's nowt as irritating as other people's children...

backwardpossom · 12/07/2014 22:04

I agree, irritating yes. But... they're just young kids who want to play so I think yab a bit u.

That's annoying!! Yanbu. You feel like you can't say anything but you know if it was your dc you would be like leave that family alone they're trying to eat in peace. Grr. Hope it didn't ruin your day.

ohforfoxsake · 12/07/2014 22:09

Yabu. Hours later, let it go. It's not a big deal.

SiennaBlake · 12/07/2014 22:11

Why didn't you speak up? Not a snarky question, just curious.

startwig1982 · 12/07/2014 22:13

We did say something to the children but the mums were the other side of the clearing.
I guess it wasn't that big an issue but it just annoyed us!

You spoke to the kids

The kids buggered off

I wouldn't give it another thought

ohforfoxsake · 12/07/2014 22:19

Kids are annoying, other peoples more so, your child will annoy someone sometime.

SiennaBlake · 12/07/2014 22:19

If they were that far away, isn't it possible they just assumed you were all being friendly to each other like people sometimes are? Seems a bit daft to be annoyed at them if that's the case.
