I know it's not technically aibu.

Mine has to be a deep fried mars bar, so sickly but so nice.

Smoked whale in Norway. All I could taste was the very strong smoky taste.
And a crayola crayon with ketchup once. For a bet.

guinea pig tasted nice but frankly not much meat on lots of bones so i wouldn't bother again

i had kangaroo and it was very dry and tough, but that may well have been bad cooking so i would try it again

Lambs brains - not too bad, actually.

Lambs brains are great. Shame they are not commonly sold here anymore.

I do like a few things that could be considered odd, such as fish eyes. Snails are also very common here and a delicacy, but I went off them when I was a child.

We also eat many sorts of sea food, such as goose neck barnacle (great), razor clam (ok).

I am supposed to have eaten camel and alligator or crocodile, and frogs legs. All were fine. Alligator was like a more consistent chicken breast.

Tuna sausages. Starter at a dinner party at our lovely French neighbour's. She'd gone to a lot of trouble to get them, but fishy-tasting sausages are all wrong....

FutureRuler i'll have to check with my dear MIL, all the things weird and wonderful i've eaten are courtesy of her. If she gets it in this country then more than likely from Chinatown in London or could be when she makes visits back home to Malaysia

For anyone who has said whale.... shame on.

I think if I just ate whale I would sit in a dark too and rethink my life.

Mish, which is a type of rancid Egyptian cheese produced by leaving it in pots in the hot sun for months or even years. It is riddled with little maggots and tastes rank!

guinea pig, alpaca (carpaccio), impala

Interested to read how others found guinea pig. I thought it was like brown turkey meat.

Quite surprised that goat is seen as weird. We have it quite a lot, it's especially nice in a hotpot, which we (rather unimaginatively) call goatpot.

guinea pig was a bit like rabbit, but less meat on the bones

Raw goat brains.
Guinea pig. Seemed quite normal to be eating guinea pig though (in Peru).

Lambs brains too. Very nice.

Also bull's testicles. They were rather tough, I wouldn't bother. The taste didn't make up for the chewiness.

I have also had ugali. Not so tasty actually.

And cinnamon dusted grasshoppers.

Oh. And I think donkey. Not very sure as we thought it was beef but the translation was a bit dodgy

I challenge you to name the weirdest non-meat thing you've eaten. You're all just listing animals (or eggs or durian).

Oh, my childhood friend's mum (HK Chinese) used to make this dish she said contained caterpillars. Friend chuckled about her mum's sense of humour and ate dish quite happily. I tried it once out of politeness but wasn't keen.

Many years later, another friend points out that mum really isn't joking, and friend has really been eating caterpillars all these years. Friend was Shock Envy

And that really wasn't the weirdest thing she'd been eating either.

I used to eat grass. And dandelions. If it was good enough for the rabbits I thought it would be good for me too.

It gave me a really dodgy stomach.
