Are they the same?

It's got very confusing

I don't like the word bitchy. It's sexist.

I don't like the royals either.

There are people who use squirty cream??

JennyOnTheBlocks · 10/07/2014 17:37

Salmo, exactamundo

JennyOnTheBlocks · 10/07/2014 17:38

Oh yes, there are

And they should be hunted down and killed.

Twice

OnlyLovers · 10/07/2014 17:38

The chocolate flaking off a Curly Wurly is part of the fun.

Scone rhymes with gone.

And NO butter. Jam, then cream.

HecatePropylaea · 10/07/2014 17:40

"gone" ?

You have lost gavel privileges.

Hand it over.

Salmotrutta · 10/07/2014 17:41

Squirty cream is the Devils Work.

And should only be used in jest.

No.

scone/gone, scone/gone, scone/gone, scone/gone, scone/gone.

JennyOnTheBlocks · 10/07/2014 17:43

There you go

HecatePropylaea · 10/07/2014 17:45

ink? You think I don't wear full protective gear when I come on MN? Give over, pet. Grin Grin

Maryz, it's ok, I forgive you. You're allowed to make a mistake. Just come over to the side of truth and rightness and we can be friends again.

Grin
Fenton · 10/07/2014 17:52

Definitely yoghurt, I refuse to spell it any other way.

Talking of curly wurly, do you remember Texan bars? The were like curly wirlies but solid, not twisty and holey, and the ad was a cowboy saying 'a man's gotta chew what a man's gotta chew'

Please say someone remembers.

I've never stood on yoghurt, far to flimsy to hold my weight

cashmiriana · 10/07/2014 17:56

Jaffa Cakes.
A pet subject of mine.

Food is zero rated for VAT
However confectionery attracts VAT at standard rate (there is a precise legal definition of confectionery: it includes sweets, chocolates and crystallised fruit. The legislation is nothing if not detailed.)
Cakes and biscuits are exceptions to the confectionery rule, therefore zero rated.
There is a further exception however. Chocolate biscuits do attract VAT.

The issue before the VAT Tribunal was therefore, was it a cake or a (chocolate) biscuit?

The answer was, it is a cake. There is a long list of criteria against which to consider the question, including packaging, where in a shop it is stocked, and what happens to it when it goes stale.

There are equally fascinating rulings on flapjacks, teacakes (the soft mallow chocolate biscuit sort) and other food stuffs.

Anybody think I need a hobby? Or a life?

JennyOnTheBlocks · 10/07/2014 17:56

I thought Texan bars were chocolate covered nougat

Now there's a thread for the pedants

JugglingFromHereToThere · 10/07/2014 17:57

Ooh, a thread entertaining enough that I've read over half of it ....
That doesn't happen so often these days I can tell you, not like in the old days before the Jaffa cake wars (clearly a biscuit BTW - a sorry apology for a cake Grin)

Not sure we have a fully formed MN policy on yogurt Maryz, but personally I'm fond of goat's or sheep's yogurt, especially with berries and maple syrup for breakfast. Mmmmmmmm Smile

Anyway one was going to say ... one is amused
(in barely concealed bid for royalty status Smile)

LineRunner · 10/07/2014 17:59

Wasn't that Aztecs? They were revolting in the original version. Fruit and nugget, as we called it.

thornrose · 10/07/2014 18:00

Texan, a mighty big chew.

Thank you Thornrose!

But my god, how old does watching that ad make me feel? Shock

Fenton · 10/07/2014 18:06

Maryz, it's yog ( as in bog) and urt (as in hurt, but maybe not so uury)

JugglingFromHereToThere · 10/07/2014 18:06

Yes, obviously I cross posted with Cashmiriana, and possibly I bow to her expert knowledge and opinion on the Jaffa cakes still think nice, juicy choccie biscuit really
