Eid question

Okay. We have a friend who will be celebrating Eid soon and we normally bake her a cake. However, this year we will only see her two weeks before Eid and then two days afterwards.

So, AIBU to give her her card and gift after Eid? Would that be a bit like giving a christmas present in January?

And if I'm better giving it to her in advance so she can open it on the actual day, does anyone have any suggestions for a gift, say under £20 value?

Does she do Eid just socially / culturally or as a serious religious thing? If the latter then the focus is meant to be on charity so maybe try one of the Oxfam gifts?

I think a couple of days after would be

Sent too soon!
A couple of days after would be ok, especially if she knows that's when she's seeing you.
Before Eid will still be Ramadan and so the focus is on fasting.
Either a charitable gift or something edible would be most appreciated! ( well, if it was me, anyway! )

We're seeing her wed 30th so would that be okay? I could make her a cake for then.

Eid celebration lasts 3 days anyway so it would be perfect timing. You could give her the card 2 weeks before and tell her not to open it until the day and you could write inside that a cake is on its way. perfect!

I don't know anything about Eid, but I often give/ receive Christmas presents in Jan to people I haven't seen before that....

I'd give something like a scarf. It is traditional to wear new clothes at Eid so it would fit with that.
