This isn't really an AIBU but I'm a new MNer and saw this thread today and have no idea what it's about! I read some of the comments to try and get an idea but am still at a loss...am I a bit slow?

The thread is for fans of Elinor Brent-Dyer's Chalet School series of books. There is kind of a whole other world and blogs/fan pages where people talk about the books and discuss films and who would play each character

Bloody hell I thought it was a real school with extremely odd parents.

It's a series of book with a large following of fans. Think twighlighters but older.

Well I'm glad you asked I hadn't a clue and I like the idea of a twilight for older readers, so I'm off to check.

It's part of a series of threads about the Chalet School books, which have a large following amongst adults who read them as children/teenagers in the 60s, 70s and 80s. There are several websites devoted to them and a publshing company which republishes many of them in unabridged hardback copies for adult devotees.

The threads are just light hearted reminiscences about the books.
