And every other item of clothing left in the washing basket.

She has also descaled the kettle, cleaned the fishtank and made a cake.

How refreshing to see a lovely MIL thread Smile

barrackobana · 05/07/2014 19:45

Erm..are underpants not the same thing as pants, knickers, Hmm

AtYourCervix · 05/07/2014 19:46

Mine are Grin

She sounds toxic OP. Cut her off. You don't need her in your life.

Send her to me.

littlepeas · 05/07/2014 19:48

What are sex knickers?? That is the most glaring item from this thread. Crotchless pants?

SaltySeaBird · 05/07/2014 19:49

My MIL has done mine too (not just pants a full load of washing). She has also been looking after DD, including keeping her fed. I've been ill this week and I'm really grateful for her support. I'm lucky to have a fab MIL just down the road who never judges (at least within earshot), never interferes and is there to help when we need it. My DM is just down the road in the opposite direction and is equally fantastic. She doesn't iron pants though!

AtYourCervix · 05/07/2014 19:50

I'm wondering if I could convert the study into a granny annex and move her in.

barrackobana · 05/07/2014 19:50

Although the word underpants does give the impression of big mahoosive knickers! Grin after all mil is unlikely to be ironing 'thongs' or anything dainty and frilly Grin

AtYourCervix · 05/07/2014 19:52

She also did DD1s small frilly items.

Chippednailvarnish · 05/07/2014 19:55

My mil is downstairs drinking wine, waiting for me to finish putting the kids to bed so I can come down and start washing up...

Swap? Grin

Aliceinvodkaland · 05/07/2014 19:55

i thought americans said underpants as we say pants and underpants or boxers for mens? unless op is american? Smile

ithoughtofitfirst · 05/07/2014 20:10

I nearly had a MIL like this :(

mineofuselessinformation · 05/07/2014 20:13

Anyone who is prepared to take the job of ironing small people's clothes off your hands (especially if they have frills or pleats) is worth their weight in gold! Smile

barrackobana · 05/07/2014 20:15

Op are you going to tell us wether they were indeed 'pants', 'frillies', thongs! boxers or big granny knickers? Wink

Muskey · 05/07/2014 20:23

My mum irons DH pants because she says it makes them lie flat. Whatever the reason I had to ask dm not to iron mr muskeys pants as he finds it a bit weird

PasswordProtected · 05/07/2014 20:24

I was told in no uncertain terms by a 5 year old boy that girls wear knickers and boys wear underpants.
What a lovely MIL though, there should be more of them about!

AtYourCervix · 05/07/2014 20:34

Mine = big granny pants low rise shorts.

D1 = small frillly thong you'll catch a chill in them

OP posts:
pancakesfortea · 05/07/2014 20:38

Mine is just the same! She irons sheets too.

LoonvanBoon · 05/07/2014 20:39

Did she give you lots of handy ironing tips while she was doing it?

If not, please can I share her too?

Sidge · 05/07/2014 20:40

alice nah I'm as soft as a fluffy kitten, I'll be a lovely MIL.

only cos they wouldn't let me keep an SA80

ICanSeeTheSun · 05/07/2014 20:41

There has got to be something bad to have a moan at.

My mil is the same, too nice.

londonrach · 05/07/2014 20:42

Not fair. My mil (winner of mil 2013 mn award) now needs a new hip so not ironing at the moment as can't stand so hubby and I are crumbled looking. I might have to learn how to iron..... I want my mil back in full working order....

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 05/07/2014 20:43

I think you are being very selfish keeping her all to yourself. I think we should all share her on a rota basis.

Or we could have a MN auction.

I bid a dozen bin bags of various old clothes that need sorting and disposing of.

AtYourCervix · 05/07/2014 20:44

I suspect she put my minnows in to tap water but can't bring myself to ask. They are all there, even BabyMinnow.

Cake made up for any gripes.
