On Facebook and also twitter are groups and pages dedicated to naming and shaming people for percieved bad driving, no attempt to anonymise the reg plates or faces or anything

They don't sit right with me at all

Before anyone asks no me and my car have not appeared on one of these groups Grin

I love these sites.
If people can't park then they should be driving.
Most of the photos that get posted, are far worse than having a wheel on the line, they are for the most appalling and inconsiderate parking. They should be ashamed!

Googled but cant find the pics that people are talking about.

Put yourself in the position of the person doing this bad parking.

They either don't know that it's wrong, they don't care, or there's some other circumstances that are not apparent.

On the remote chance that they see a photo of their misdemeanor on Facebook, what is their reaction likely to be? "Sod you!" "invasion of privacy!" "but I was only...."

I really cannot see how this naming and shaming does anything other than fan the flames of finger-pointing without knowing all the facts; it's judginess writ large.

I live somewhere with residents on street parking.

The bay takes 5 cars usually and 6 cars if everyone arrives and parks in the right order neatly (as it isn't broken down into individual spaces).

However one of my twatty neighbours (who drives a small car - a mini) insists on parking right in the middle of whatever space is there. I've observed him doing it several times - imagine I leave to go to the gym/ supermarket (i.e. a short 1 hour long type of trip) and when I leave the space adjacent to my car is also empty I will come back to find him parked right in the middle of the big space I created by leaving with no room for even a midget car at either end of his vehicle. It is so bloody annoying.

I'm afraid I've taken to leaving passive aggressive notes on his windscreen.

Yours, disgruntled of city centre.

I'm not sure what facts there are that justify dangerous and selfish parking.

settingsitting · 04/07/2014 21:39

It is what we have laws for.

MyFairyKing · 05/07/2014 11:35

I've already said this but there are no laws to stop fuckwits parking without blue badges in blue badge spaces on private land!
