He spent the last seven weeks up in his room making this (while I'm downstairs looking after the kids). He says it's covertly feminist and not a dig at me. Confused: www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_2237807847&feature=iv&src_vid=akDyMhBqXME&v=4WIUjd7mUFY

You can hardly blame him for being defensive in the comments after this thread...

Branleuse · 04/07/2014 14:27

im astounded that people have posted shit on his youtube page. Wow, thats really really out of order. Op if youve got an issue with your dp not pulling weight or spending too much time film making, then how about talking to him, rather than putting his creations up to purposely invite criticism and negative comments. Thats so cunty.

BeCool · 04/07/2014 14:42

Branleuse You Tube comments are famous for being mostly absolutely dreadful. I don't think that has much to do with this thread.

And by "people" I think you mean person - looks like only one comment possibly as a result of this thread and they make quite a good point.

chocolatemademefat · 04/07/2014 14:46

Your husband needs a hobby. I'd be seriously questioning mine if he wasted weeks doing this video. Tell him to grow up and do some gardening.

JohnFarleysRuskin · 04/07/2014 14:47

Hope you are ok, op. (If the op is the wife, I mean...I think it is...)

Thanks

I honestly can't tell whether this was intended to be satire or what. But it seems to me there are two possibilities. One, this was meant to be a dig at women (or rather, 4 minutes of lots and lots of digs at women, some of them really rather unpleasant). In which case the person who made it is a nasty piece of work. Two, this was intended to be satire with a feminist message. In which case it failed. It just made me feel very uncomfortable watching it, because we've all heard / received those messages as women from our partners / families / society in general, yes? It's not funny, clever or satirical to merely repeat them like this without any twist or commentary on what's being said. It's just confusing and creepy.

I hope you get this sorted out, OP. And I hope your dh uses his passion for film-making, and the skills that he must have to be able to make something like this in the first place, to make something genuinely meaningful, thought-provoking or funny next time.

GarlicJulyKit · 04/07/2014 16:12

I construe, from his video, that your husband deems you "insane", thinks you moan all the time and spend too much. Also that you've called him a "lazy selfish cock".

If I were a ma-ha-ha-an, and I spent seven weeks putting down the woman who catered for me during that time, I would be a lazy selfish cock. And an utter twat.

LTB. Don't make a musical about it.

GarlicJulyKit · 04/07/2014 16:15

I'm assuming these are his own thoughts, and directed at you, because he made all the fucking dolls look like him. It's only a critique of your relationship! And doesn't cast him in a good light, from where I'm looking.

diddl · 04/07/2014 16:21

I didn't watch much but it came across to be as if he was a woman he'd be better at it because he's a man iyswim.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 04/07/2014 17:05

Quidditch has nailed it. Agree with that entire post.

It made uncomfortable viewing - not in a clever 'you're supposed to feel like this' way, but in a 'what are the intentions of this' and a feeling that whatever the intentions, it reveals more than the maker intended about himself.

Not pleasant.

I hope that things are not what they seem here either, as the OP has been landed in it rather.

emms1981 · 04/07/2014 19:09

Its on youtube and you are free to make comments. Op wouldn't have put link on here if she didn't want people to watch. I'm asuming they get paid for adverts and were hoping for some views. If my husband was doing that I would rather keep it to myself

UptheChimney · 04/07/2014 19:44

I don't care if the vid is sexist or not (well it is, but hey). It's crap. I could only manage about 30 secs. I have a life apparently

mstumble · 04/07/2014 20:55

That's one of the worst, most cringiest things I've ever seen. And it is sexist. Also there's no way it would have over 1000 views if it wasn't for OP so despite him slagging her off, he should be glad that at least some people have watched it who given the choice would have rather watched paint dry
