The title says it all really.

Situations that are so obviously unreasonable that its astounding that anyone needs to ask.

Why ask ?

Is it just venting / too much time on their hands / an inability to make any decision on their own / complete lack of common sense / just enjoy prattling ????????????

Why ????

YABU ;)

Because in some instances other people who are being unreasonable can make you doubt your own sanity by being so vehemently sure they are right.

And some people want a pat on the back for being so helpful/calm and unflappable/standing up for themselves/being in the right place at the right time, and presumably won't get it from anyone else in their lives. Those ones make me a bit sad.

Sometimes they lack confidence and want reassurance that they are not over-reacting - that can be because their relationships and self-esteem are so messed up that they just don't trust their own judgement any more.

But a lot of the time people are looking for validation and sympathy, and for everyone to agree that they have been lumbered with a terrible partner/MIL/etc. Those ones often completely ignore any actual practical advice which might improve the situation - they don't actually want to take responsibility for changing their life for the better, they just want a chance to moan and then carry on putting up with it.

You can see through to the ones who really have lost their sense of perspective due to their personal circumstances, but those are very few and far between.

A lot of the posts just seem to me to be drivel. Posted by people who spend their whole day discussing non-events and talking for the sake of talking.
