...not to open a thread that contains the word 'sp***r' [grin]

I made the mistake of doing this last year and was confronted with a photo of one. Took ages to get over it Grin.

The thing is I have an unhealthy desire to read these threads, but just don't want to see a picture. Who else gets this?

Springer? Not my favourite dog but very cute nonetheless.

MsVestibule · 02/07/2014 09:51

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about Confused.

SarahAndFuck · 02/07/2014 09:53

Spider.

Birdsgottafly · 02/07/2014 09:54

Think eight legs, not four.

I can't even look at a picture of a crab, they're my fear, so YANBU.

StillFrigginRexManningDay · 02/07/2014 09:54

No need to spider.

StillFrigginRexManningDay · 02/07/2014 09:55

No need to sp*r spider.

Not sure what happened there.

Fenton · 02/07/2014 10:01

OP I would be really careful when coming back to this thread that someone doesn't very hilariously post a picture of a spider on it.

It would be so easy to do. I wouldn't do that of course.

God, Fenton! No one would be so cruel!!! Liking the kitten Grin. Glad to see some posters know what I'm talking about lol.

The sp*r thing was just a bit of fun really. Those in the know would understand Wink.

I completely understand. There was that thread a while ago with the spider on the OP's sleeping child - couldn't sleep after that one. And a couple of weeks ago about the infestation in the saucepan cupboard (with pictures).
I know, I should just not open them but it's like a weird compulsion [shudder].
I knew exactly what sp*r meant. And I still opened this thread.
What's wrong with me?

Beehatch · 02/07/2014 10:26

Has the loofah convention passed then?

Not that I had any truck with it, loves a spider me.

Susyb30 · 02/07/2014 10:28

Completely get what you're saying. .im terrified of them!Once years ago when I lived on my own I was reading a book in bed when I spotted a huge long legged thick black bodied thing walking along the floor towards the bed (shiver). Screamed and grabbed the bottle of water that was on the side and began pouring the contents on the carpet hoping to drown it (or something) of course the little shit ran under the bed and I was left shaking, shrieking and a sodding wet carpet. To cut a long story short I had to move into the living room where I had no sleep. .expecting more to crawl out and freak me out even more. I was a wreck.

Also nearly passed out when I saw a "dinner plate spider"on the tv (never move to Australia). Dh used to think it was funny to play little spider jokes on me..but he knows better now!

Happydaysatlast · 02/07/2014 10:29

Fenton I want that kitten. Adorable, name?

BlackeyedSusan · 02/07/2014 11:14

8 legged beasties... yuk.

Tabby1963 · 02/07/2014 11:17

Bardette, it is weird that I too both want to and yet don't want to confront a picture of a spider.

Suzy I too wouldn't move to Australia Grin, but did do a tour of New Zealand and didn't see a single spider, so there's an alternative.

I always open threads about cats... just to look at the wonderful furry things Grin.

OP posts:
Fenton · 02/07/2014 11:19

Ah sadly I do not own the pretty kitty, he was borrowed from google images, lovely isn't he?

PetulaGordino · 02/07/2014 11:22

i have to say i am MUCH more wary about what threads i open now that MN allows the posting of photos

Smelsa · 02/07/2014 11:38

Do you know how hard this was to resist?!

kali110 · 02/07/2014 11:46

I have the same compulsion :-(

Iv had several scary experiences.
A spider fell on my head when i was in bed.
A spider ran across my bed when i was in it.
Both times i was unable to sleep in my room until the spider resurfaced from the down the side of my bed.

Bardette · 02/07/2014 20:42

It's happened again...I'm reading another spider thread.
Dinner plate spiders??? Spiders falling on people when they sleep??
No more anecdotes, naughty posters Angry

Sallyingforth · 02/07/2014 21:11

Not again. Please. Not another spider thread like all the others.

Just to be clear. If you have a real, genuine phobia about spiders, it can be treated successfully. Just brows any of the many previous threadson the same subject.

Or if you just think it's clever or funny or "feminine" to be frightened of arachnids, that for fuck's same just get over yourself.
