To tell my neighbour I would kick him

If I saw him kick my cat. She was just peeing in his pretentious little walled garden on his drive. What a complete arsehole. But that is not where I would kick him SmileAngry rant over.

I dunno, compared to other creatures of a similar size, cats seem particularly difficult. Only time rats, for example, were as difficult was when I need to bathe them.

SirChenjin · 01/07/2014 20:40

They are - I remember helping out in my friend's Dad's vet practice, and the cats were vicious buggers. Another reason for not getting one on the already very long list of reasons not to get one Wink

hoobypickypicky · 01/07/2014 20:51

YANBU. If you're busy that day, let me know, I'd be happy to stamp stand in for you. Grin

TillyTellTale · 01/07/2014 21:14

I am unconvinced, I'm afraid. The moment we can afford a cat, we will be down to the nearest cat rescue and begging for a feline addition to our family. Despite all your efforts. Blush

IAmANightOwl · 01/07/2014 21:22

YANBU and I would say (and do!) the same if anyone said that about my cat. Whether you like animals or not, there is no justification to abuse them - it gives me the rage Angry

arkestra · 01/07/2014 21:38

Your neighbour is an arse. How can control where your cat has a wee?

We did have a neighbours cat that crapped in our garden a lot. Never crossed my mind to threaten or be an arse. I just got a big super soaker and hydrated the cat whenever I saw it in our garden. Seemed to do the trick. And if it hadn't I guess I'd have sucked it up.

arkestra · 01/07/2014 21:57

I should add that I was fine if it (or other cats) were just walking around on our fences! But if this particular one was hanging around in the garden itself then I would help it on its way. Cat poo not being great for my toddler DD.

NellyTheEfalump · 01/07/2014 22:06

Definitely not unreasonable! Neighbour sounds like a total dick.

One of our neighbours poisoned one of out cats and he died. Made his life a living hell until he moved.

On a side note, my cats do poo in some neighbours gardens.. But strangely only the ones we don't like. Often whilst staring into their window.

RedRoom · 01/07/2014 22:10

I went to lie on my grass at the weekend and found lots of cat shit everywhere. A local cat also pees in my flower bed and then digs over to cover it up. Fine if you have a cat and don't mind that in your garden, but I don't get a choice about it! It is very annoying.

That said, he shouldn't threaten to kick your cat.

Lesleythegiraffe · 01/07/2014 22:14

I have a similar problem with my arsehole of a neighbour. There are loads of cats in the area but (despite the fact that mine is inside a lot of the time) he claims that it is only my cat that pees on his flowers or has meowing stand-offs with other cats.

I just ignore him but if I ever saw him kick my cat I would report him.

Lottiedoubtie · 01/07/2014 22:16

as it seems to be socially acceptable (and legal) to allow you pets to defecate in other people's gardens then you choose to allow them to continue.

Clue is in socially acceptable and legal. Grin Grin

Only on MN do people think cats should be somehow prevented from shitting outside.

Smelsa · 01/07/2014 22:18

I'm going to buy a cat so I can poo on my neighbours grass and pass the blame.

NaughtySpottyBengalCat · 01/07/2014 22:30

I bought a long distance super soaker blaster for my own cat, to stop her climbing the fence into the neighbours garden. I waited until I saw her wiggling her bum ready to jump and blasted the fence in front of her (not at her). That was a few months ago and she has not tried to jump out of my garden since.

I would not tolerate a neighbour threatening a member of my family. There is no need for him to be cruel. If he wants the cat out of his garden something like a water blaster would work - when he is visible that is. Unless he gets lucky and gives the cat a sufficient fright that it is not worth the cat's time venturing back ever again, the cat will simply wait until he is not there and then do as they please.

If he threatens you/your cat again, and I genuinely felt he would do harm to the cat I would call the police about it. I had a threat from a lady once (connected to my horse) and as she threatened my life I called the police. The police took it seriously and visited her and I also got a letter from her solicitor - not apologizing exactly but making it clear she would not be issuing threats to me again. Very unpleasant but sadly I think she had mental health issues and I did feel threatened :(

Well this is a change from the normal cat shit thread!

A cat piss thread! One for the books.

SistersOfPercy · 02/07/2014 00:20

He's a wanker.

I once caught my (now dead) alcoholic next door neighbor shout my beautiful, timid little westie to the fence and attempt to throw a jug of water over him.
I told him in no uncertain terms were a drop of it to touch my dog I'd turn the hose pipe on him.

I've often wondered if the reason he was so timid was because he'd die something to him in the past.

Control your filthy animal then! Vile things!

LOL at "train your cat"!

You can't train cats. They are meant to roam the neighbourhood at night. And you can't compare cat poo to dog poo, which is 100 times more offensive.

Do you think all the foxes/hedgehogs/badgers etc which also come and poo on your property should be trained as well?

Hilarious.

If I can find it.....

Numanoid · 02/07/2014 09:46

I think he is BU to threaten to kick the cat, and you're also BU to threaten to kick him.

I like cats, however I can understand it being annoying if they're peeing in someone else's garden, especially if that person isn't fond of cats.

He should invest in a cat deterrent, and sprinkle it on the fence/in his garden. There are plenty available that will do no harm to the cat. Or he could get one of those devices that emits an ultrasonic sound that people can barely hear, but will repel the cat if it enters his garden. That's not harmful to the cat either. :)

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 02/07/2014 09:46

My neighbour came over and had a word with my DH last week saying he wasn't happy as he saw our cat crap in his garden. DH apologised but pointed out that cats do wander and there's not really much we can do about it. We know they don't like cats anyway so I am going to buy him a water pistol and tell him if he sees her do it I will go and clear it up.

I am amazed at people who say it's our fault for having cats. Most responsible cat owners will neuter their cats so if it wasn't for us owners then you cat haters would be over run with cats pissing and shitting in their gardens.

I don't trust anyone who hates cats.........feel the cat love people, feel the love :)

Numanoid · 02/07/2014 09:47

Good luck trying to control a cat, you'd have better luck trying to nail jelly to a wall...

Keep it in the house! Or if you must let it out don't whine when it gets run over or ripped to shreds by a dog in someone's garden. They don't come in my garden fortunately - they'd be lucky to escape from the dog in one piece.
