I should have had it back last Wednesday but I was told that the 'wrong part' turned up so they had to re-order it. Then some pipes were damaged apparently when they took the steering rack off so they needed to order them. I waited in all day Friday as I was assured it would be finished by then, then called them at 5pm for them to tell me it would not be ready until today. Rang them today at lunchtime to be told it would be ready early afternoon and they were just finishing off. Called them at 4pm again and they said it would not be ready today as they were still waiting for the pipe order Hmm. So they blatantly lied again today about just finishing off.

They did give me a car to borrow on Friday. It is disgusting, covered in dogs hairs and stinks. I will not take DCs in it so DH has had to take it while I use his. It has evidently been stuck in a shed somewhere.

I am fucking furious mainly due to being mucked around on when the car will be back. When I asked them why they did not bother to let me know it would not be finished until I called them again, the owner was quite rude stating that he had 50 cars to be worked on and mine was not the only car they had in Hmm.

Am worried they may try to pin the cost of the pipes THEY damaged on me as well. Can I refuse to pay it if they do? Can they refuse to give me the car back?

Am so pissed off as we have been using this garage for 7 years and they have always been very good until now. We will have a stonking bill to pay tomorrow in addition to this stress.

AIBU to give them a piece of my mind tomorrow and never go back.

You just have to accept that things don't always go to plan. It is not their fault the wrong part was delivered and they have been honest about the pipes being damaged when they took the steering rack off.
This is what I'd do:
Insist they offer you a car for the time being and tell them if it is dirty you will get a mini valet ( £10 at Kurdish car wash) and ask them to reimburse you the cost.
Insist you will not be paying for replacement pipes if it was their fault they were damaged in the first place.
Tell them you have been happy with the work they have done in the past, but if this problem is not remedied soon you will have no other option to call in trading standards.
Hope this helps.

Thank you up. I have calmed down a bit now. I have not had my car for a almost month now as we had to wait 3 weeks to be able to afford the £800+ bill Shock and it means we are buggered financially just before the summer hols. It's a 7 seater and I have 4 bickering DC with school/activities at varying distances away so really need it back now!

First world problem huh.
