It's too hard and tasteless!
However some bright spark has ruined my evening by "popping" it in the fridge! Grrrrrr....

Chocolate is much nicer from the fridge. I'm not keen on room temp choc.

littlepeas · 30/06/2014 22:18

I think the fridge is winning!

Butkin · 30/06/2014 22:22

I'm sitting on the fence. In the summer we like to store our chocolate in the fridge - surely nobody likes melting, gooey chocolate? I hate chocolate which has been left in the cupboard or, worse still, on the counter. However I do think it then tastes nicer if you allow it to warm up a bit.

MrsMikeDelfino · 30/06/2014 22:24

No, no NO. Chocolate should not be kept in a fridge. End of. This belief was just re-inforced when I visited York Chocolate Story last week - the chocolate experts on the tour said that chocolate shouldn't be kept in the fridge. It ruins the taste or something.
So there you have it from an expert. Smile

Changebagsandgladrags · 30/06/2014 22:25

DH puts ours in the bloody bread bin. Along with Jaffa cakes and then there's no room for the fucking bread.

OberonTheHopeful · 30/06/2014 22:27

Why would you need bread when you have chocolate? Just a thought.

Ketchuphidestheburntbits · 30/06/2014 22:30

I believe that chocolate need to breath, like wine, when you remove it from the fridge. It requires enough time to boil the kettle for a cup of tea to be perfect.

SquigglySquid · 01/07/2014 00:06

YABVVVVU!! Chocolate is meant to be eaten cold so it takes longer to melt in your mouth. :)

wobblyweebles · 01/07/2014 02:19

GOOD GOD PEOPLE YOU ARE RUINING MY DIET!

Boleh · 01/07/2014 02:30

It has to be in the fridge, it's so warm where I am that for chocolate to survive on the shelves in the shop it's 'high melting point' stuff, revolting - it's like wax as it doesn't melt in your mouth either. I buy a stash of proper chocolate when I'm in the UK or people are asked to bring it over and it then lives happily in the fridge.
I like hard, cold chocolate now, it takes longer to eat - think if still continue with the fridge even in the UK.

AdoraBell · 01/07/2014 02:51

I don't give a flying fuck where chocolate is kept as long as it available.

BOFster · 01/07/2014 03:04

Chocolate needs to be kept at larder temperature; ie cool but not cold. Refrigeration ruins the flavour. That said, if you classify relatively crap chocolate like Yorkie as worth eating, it probably makes little difference. I know that sounds snobbish, but I do believe that if you are going to really enjoy chocolate, you should at least explore the proper stuff.

CallMeExhausted · 01/07/2014 04:31

I have read the entire thread and still don't understand this "storing" of chocolate thing you keep talking about.

Certainly this must be code for something entirely unrelated, right?

HecatePropylaea · 01/07/2014 08:17

Weird, isn't it?

Like when recipes call for 'leftover wine'

kurama · 01/07/2014 08:24

I love chocolate from the fridge

silkknickers · 03/07/2014 09:20

If it was meant to be eaten chilled then it would be sold in chiller cabinets, whereas in fact it is stored at room / shop temperature.

MrsPMT · 03/07/2014 09:24

I love chocolate from the fridge, but wouldn't put someone else's chocolate in the fridge, only mine, and then its all mine! Grin

Joysmum · 03/07/2014 09:28

FREEZER!

If you're dieting, break chocolate into squares and freeze. Then pop a square into your mouth where it takes ages to melt and coats your mouth for ages and you don't need to eat the whole family sized bar.

donkir · 03/07/2014 09:39

Chocolate in the fridge definitely. In our household the men know if there's chocolate in the fridge then it's mine and words will be crossed if they touch it. I'm gutted now pregnant I can't stomach chocolate Hmm

Hoppinggreen · 03/07/2014 10:00

Fridge nobody else thinks to look for it it there so it's all mine!!!

PinkHamster · 03/07/2014 10:03

YANBU. Chocolate should be soft and melt in your mouth.

MirandaGoshawk · 03/07/2014 17:00

I like my chocolate almost melted. I leave it in the sun! Grin Mmmmm

Fridge? No way!

KirjavaTheCat · 03/07/2014 17:02

Cold malteasers are what heaven is actually made of, yabu!

AbbeyBartlet · 03/07/2014 17:14

No you're right, it should be kept in the freezer! Especially in this weather, lovely, cold and rock hard.

^^THIS

I wouldn't advise doing with a Crunchie bar though - breathing in the frozen honeycomb shards is unpleasant!

madhairday · 03/07/2014 17:20

Yabu. Fridge/freezer all the way.

Especially since Cadbury's ruined their chocolate and made it more oily. It's inedible at room temp. Gooey.

Now I bloody want chocolate and I'm on a 5:2 fast day.
