Little Princess on Board
Twins on Board
Grandkids on Board
Yummy Mummy on Board

Who cares? Just drive the bloody car carefully. It's no one's business who's 'on board'.

YANBU. I hate said signs and refused to put them up in my car even tho my mil Did get a lovely tatty teddy one for me. My husband told me also that he wouldn't drive car if I did put one up so we were in agreement! However I have heard ( it could just be an urban myth spread by people who have these signs in car) that the baby on board sign is NOT there to warn other drivers that since you have a child in car that you will be driving badly but to actually let emergency services know in an accident situation that there is possibly a child in car. This means they will look around the accident scene in case child has been thrown from car. I am doubtful that this is true but would love to hear what any paramedics think about that bullshit excuse explanation

MyFairyKing · 30/06/2014 11:24

I saw one saying "Elderly Driver, Please Be Patient" in Tesco a few weeks ago. Shock

Summerbreezing · 30/06/2014 11:26

LOL at sign being to warn other drivers that you might be driving badly because you're handing your children snacks etc.

If you can't drive around carefully, you shouldn't be driving regardless of who's in the car with you.

I wonder if there's be a market for signs saying:

Lady applying make up on board

Couple having a row on board

Arrogant boy racer on board.

I feel rage on seeing the 'powered by fairy dust' ones and when people leave L plates on when the learner driver isn't in the vehicle, or is it the learner driving on their own, on a motorway?

Pumpkinpositive · 30/06/2014 11:28

I could get one saying "Left Foot Braker on board" so all those who claim to be petrified of LFBs could steer a wide berth. suits me Grin

RockandRollsuicide · 30/06/2014 11:28

I want big red letters saying things like :back off my arse Bastard...and

Thank you for driving well back.

Smelsa · 30/06/2014 11:29

If it's all "who cares" then why do you care about the signs?

Just drive the car bloody carefully. It's no ones business what signs are on the car.

Summerbreezing · 30/06/2014 11:30

If they're on the window then obviously they're there for public attention, so people are entitled to comment.

Enb76 · 30/06/2014 11:30

I told my daughter (5) when she asked that they are to warn other drivers that the driver of the car may not be paying attention to what anyone else on the road is doing.

My father taught me to drive like every other car on the road is an unpredictable beast. It has served me well.

Playthegameout · 30/06/2014 11:31

I got told the 'baby/child on board' variety were to let other road users know the driver could become distracted. Seems a bit of a stretch to me. I loathe the mawkish things though.

Playthegameout · 30/06/2014 11:32

Cross post with Enb

LarrytheCucumber · 30/06/2014 11:32

If your child is safely belted into a carseat they are unlikely to be missed in an accident. If they are just standing up in between the seats or sitting on someone's lap a sticker isn't going to improve their chances of escaping an impact.

KirjavaTheCat · 30/06/2014 11:34

"If you drive up my arse I will hunt you down and kill you" - too severe?

Smelsa · 30/06/2014 11:35

People are entitled to comment but I still wonder why you care about the signs at all. You probably care more about them than the people who whack them on the car.

Mordirig · 30/06/2014 11:36

I saw personalised ones on the school run last week, prince K and princess B on board.
I think they just look tacky.
A car is a vehicle not an extension of your children's bedrooms which is the only place for named signs apart from uniform and lunch boxes etc.

NCISaddict · 30/06/2014 11:36

Hippomammy I've been to numerous RTC's and have never looked for or even noticed if there is a sign in a vehicle. I find them slightly irritating but they will not improve your child's chances of survival if you have a crash.

WanderingAway · 30/06/2014 11:37

I dont think a stupid sticker should excuse people from being bad drivers. If you cant drive properly with your kids in the car maybe you shouldnt be driving.

Mordirig · 30/06/2014 11:37

I've frankly got better things to spend my money on.
They are just so,,,,pointless Confused

blondiebonce · 30/06/2014 11:40

We bought ours that says Little Lady On Board cos that's what we call bump ( no it isn't hanging up yet) so yes maybe cheesy, but didn't realise it was so controversial! Call me naive and slightly hysterical if you want, but as a non driver I sort of hoped those kinds of signs were to at least encourage tw@ts who usually get right on your arse bumper to keep back a bit or something. I don't know...or maybe I just loved the fact it was a cuddly lady bug holding the sign...

Summerbreezing · 30/06/2014 11:41

I doubt it Smelsa. I just find them mildly irritating and thought I'd comment on here, if that's ok.

Summerbreezing · 30/06/2014 11:43

Also, if some parents are under the illusion that they can put a sticker on their rear window as a warning that they're going to be driving a bit carelessly because they'll be busy with their kids, then they certainly need to be put right on that.

OP posts:
MyFairyKing · 30/06/2014 11:43

I might get a sticker saying "if you can read this, you're too close". There is just something about driving a Nissan Micra that makes me get aggressively tailgated fairly often. I'm not being sexist, ageist or carist but it's usually by middle aged men in BMWs.

ShelaghTurner · 30/06/2014 11:43

What's to 'get'? Don't have them if you don't like them. I can't see what difference it makes if the car in front of you has one or not. Although I take issue with the car being just a vehicle and not an extension of your house because that's bollocks. People absolutely do treat their cars like a part of their home. I certainly do.

On signs though, I don't have one yet, I've looked and can't find one that says "piss off and leave me alone" but if I see one I might buy it.

HauntedNoddyCar · 30/06/2014 11:44

Blondie a twat's a twat and a little sign won't make any difference.

NCISaddict · 30/06/2014 11:45

I think that the twats may get a little closer and focus on how cute the ladybug sign is rather than concentrating on the road and their driving.
