I don't think the OP is gullible and I completely agree that there are people like JC but still it's interesting that a paper aimed at women works on the basis on choosing their "columnists" or promoting these stories solely because they know that other women will hate them. They hold these women up as "bad" and we're all supposed to point and jeer and loathe them (any buy the paper and click on their ads).

It's peculiar because it's such a tried and tested formula which obviously works for the paper. So what does it say about our society? That women love to hate other women so much that we need newspapers to find examples of extra bad women? Why does it sell? Do we secretly hate our gender too?
