To hate Sundays !

God the boredom if it ! The shirts to iron for kids and work shirts. The ruddy cleaning of non stop mess and dust ( OH renovating the house ! ) gormless teenagers watching drivel loudly on the tv and a whiny toddler !!

Monday and an empty house again can't come quick enough !!

i have been in my pjays all day (short trip to local shop meant i had to get dressed!)

best day of the week :)

Smilesandpiles · 29/06/2014 20:14

This is why I run around like a blue arsed fly on Saturdays to get everything done. Sunday is then my day to just potter about. Make a lunch, bake, knit and drink copious amounts of tea.

WashingFanatic · 29/06/2014 20:23

I love Sundays. We have a lie in until 9 (kids sleep in...that's a decent lie in for us). Get up, potter, have brunch around 11am together. Spend until 3 doing what we like...watching films, playing games (today was BlackJack with matchsticks. Not entirely sure how appropriate it was to teach gambling to a 4 and 6 year old but it beats snap).

Then dh leaves for work at half 3. I spend a couple of hours cleaning, uniforms, dinner etc. kids in bed at 7 and then I have a quiet evening to myself :)

CharlesRyder · 29/06/2014 20:25

Not all week ! I wish. No an empty house till they come home from school/work !

I fantasize about having two hours by myself.. ever!!

flamingoland · 29/06/2014 20:44

Ermmmm I think you are quite lucky to be honest and I am jealous- I would swap with you in an instant! When my house is empty I am at work. At least you get the house to yourself for periods during the week- most people would see that as a real luxury (myself included).

cardibach · 29/06/2014 20:50

Soooo you are a SAHM (fine, not out to criticise this). Why are you ironing/cleaning on a weekend when the family are there? Surely the advantage of an empty house during the day in the week is that you can do those sort of jobs then?
YABU for ironing at all. Hang everything up as it comes out of the washer and you won't need to. Go out and do something interesting. Or stay in and do something interesting.

CharlesRyder · 29/06/2014 20:54

I also think UAB a little U for resenting others their down time when you have a lot in the week.

Go out on a Sunday by yourself? Do the jobs in the week?

startwig1982 · 29/06/2014 20:54

Yabu. Sundays are great. We do:
Church
DH and ds playing(generally outside) while I cook lunch
Yummy lunch
Walk followed by cake or icecream
A small amount of TV
Crumpets/muffins/eggs for tea
Countryfile
Game playing
Bed
What's not to love?

hennybeans · 29/06/2014 21:34

Sundays are my least favourite day too. Much for the same reasons: homework, baths, washing, ironing, cleaning. I suppose I enjoy all the other days and save most of the work for one day of the week. Maybe better to spread it all out? I really enjoy M- Sat!

ephemeralfairy · 29/06/2014 21:40

My favourite thing about Sunday is the Archers omnibus Smile
Other than that, I always try to go out and do something because I start to feel like I'm going mad if I stay in. I am not good at pottering!

Claybury · 29/06/2014 21:41

My advice is to NEVER iron kids clothes. And get out for an hour to do something you enjoy. Exercise is the best antidote to the Sunday situation you describe. Can the teenagers watch the toddler for a while ?
The mess , well yes, that is annoying here too.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 30/06/2014 12:22

I don't understand people leaving all their chores til Sunday, unless of course they are working the rest of the week. As a SAHM I try and do what I can during the week and do as little housework as possible at the weekend. Of course the house is an absolute pigsty by Monday morning, but I do have Monday morning alone in the house.

Agree with pp on exercise - if I can get out for a run along the seafront first thing on a sunny weekend morning then anything else is a bonus after that!

Sallystyle · 30/06/2014 12:40

I have always hated Sundays.

I don't even know why really. Yesterday we went out for dinner but I still had that horrible Sunday feeling.

Sallystyle · 30/06/2014 12:44

I iron their uniform on a Sunday because during the week they are still using P.E kits etc so it all comes home to be washed on Friday and I may as well do it all together.

I don't do it on a Saturday as that is my fun day, so it happens on a Sunday. Other housework is done during the week but the washing an ironing of uniform is a Sunday thing.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 30/06/2014 13:55

We had a great Sunday. DD had friends over so they camped, we slept late then did other things, ate bacon sarnies in bed, I cooked dinner, and then we lay around a bit more. Bit of a tiff with DD over getting a puppy (perhaps shouldn't suggested I'd prefer a grandchild), but she sulked for less than an hour then did violent housework to relieve her feelings. Which was nice.

RockandRollsuicide · 30/06/2014 15:12

I just hate sunday trading hours, and every weekend if we need to buy anything DH forgets about them too.

I hate dead high streets with shops closed.

Trooperslane · 30/06/2014 15:16

Yabu to iron anything.
