To NOT be thrilled at having a 6 foot inflatable T-Rex in the house?

One of DHs bright ideas for DD (She's almost 12!). Here's my main reasons:

1.) I have an average size house (3 bed semi)
2.) On an average day there is enough crap hanging about the place courtesy of 2 children and a DH.
3.) Crap had been moved into the garage. For 2 days I was enjoying my 'extra' space, it almost felt like my living room was the Royal Albert hall I had so much room, now that space is taken up by 'Rex'
4.) Rex is plastic, most mums know the toxic smell of plastic toys, well imagine 6 feet of it. It smells like a 1000 Barbie dolls.

I spent time making the house more spacious and removing crap and putting it into the garage only to have this big t-rex pop up and take up space. I'm seriously thinking about taking a pair of scissors to it and relieving some of my stress, I'm sure the hissing will be very therapeutic Hmm

This bloody dinosaur is going to soon learn that an angry mommy with a kitchen full of sharp things doesn't mix well with a big inflatable taking up her house! I'm going to go on a long cruise if that inflatable isn't popped shifted soon.

It'll deflate soon and be forgotten about soon

CarolineCoffeemugs · 29/06/2014 08:14

Honey I wish I could believe you but this thing has been standing there for a week now and I can't suffer it any longer. The only way it's going to deflate is if it has a few hundred punctures and me enjoying a nice coffee as it hisses flat.

If it's DD's can't you tell her to keep it in her bedroom?

TheGirlFromIpanema · 29/06/2014 08:16
Grin

I think I would be prepared to make sacrifices for a 6 foot inflatable T-Rex.

Aw I quite fancy one of those, send him to us!
We did have one of those huge inflatable aliens a few weeks back - we're clearing out crap ready to move and it was a remnant from student days. Kids loved him but we're told it was short term, I gave them a week then deflated him and sent him to the charity shop, they forgot all about him within a day or two.

Marylou62 · 29/06/2014 08:20

In my nanny job we had one and it drove everyone mad!!! It was put in the porch in the end with the gloves ,scarves ,hats etc on it. That lasted about 6months then it got a puncture. Oh Dear!! YANBU.

madasa · 29/06/2014 08:22

Take him into the garden and introduce him to a hedgehog

CarolineCoffeemugs · 29/06/2014 08:25

@Mary, finally someone who understands!

We have a large inflatable Darlek, it seemed to be a good idea but it soon got in the way. We bring it it at Christmas and decorating it, it's now known as The Christmas Dalek.

YaNbu to be irritated that valuable space is taken up.

MoonRover · 29/06/2014 08:55

yy set Rexy loose in the garden.

Can he live in dd's room?

Fuckalella · 29/06/2014 09:01

I'm sure I've seen a similar thread before!

Poke it in the foot with a needle? It'll go down slowly and no one will be any the wiser!

RoseberryTopping · 29/06/2014 09:06

Puncture it with a needle in a few different places. S

RoseberryTopping · 29/06/2014 09:07

Whoops posted too soon. Do it in the creases or somewhere not easy to spot. After a few days it'll be useless and they won't be able to find the puncture hole.

Chocotrekkie · 29/06/2014 09:08

Does she wants something else ?

So yes i will buy you those shoes but you need to ditch the t Rex.

overslept · 29/06/2014 16:14

Have you ever considered a pet? Maybe a kitten? Grin

Inertia · 29/06/2014 16:18

Put it in DD's bed.

AlpacaPicnic · 29/06/2014 16:26

Yabvu.
Id love an inflatable dinosaur.
Deflate him and post him to me!

SquigglySquid · 29/06/2014 16:30

Aww... You're only 12 once. Let her enjoy her inflatable dinosaur. Maybe put it in her room. Let her decide it's too big. :)

eosmum · 29/06/2014 16:35

Think I'm having déjà vu, I'm sure I read this exact thing before. No solution though.

timetoclean · 29/06/2014 16:37

Can it do push ups?

gamerchick · 29/06/2014 16:39

maybe you could wait till he's asleep each night and put it at the end of the bed so he opens his eyes to it. Or stand it in the bathroom or other random places during the night so you can have a bit of fun with it? Somebody might take care of the issue for you.

Fuckalella · 29/06/2014 18:17

eosmum I'm glad it's not just me! I thought I may be losing the plot!

Livingwithminecraftaddicts · 29/06/2014 18:19

Where did he get it? I really want one

JoeyMaynardsghost · 29/06/2014 18:19

That does sound incredibly cool. However sensible head is telling me it would be a PITA.

wants picture of 6' T-Rex

Stratter5 · 29/06/2014 18:26

Meeeeeeeeeee!

I want him. Please Grin

I would dress up on festive days, and buy him a scarf and trilby for the winter.
