Agree - watch rugby instead. Proper men playing a proper game. Much more technical and way more enjoyable once you have a basic understanding of what's going on.
Rugby players much nicer on the eye too IMO.

It wouldn't be exciting if goals were scored willy nilly. Kids' five a side games tend to have high scores and it isn't as entertaining. The offside rule was introduced many moons ago to keep scores lower. Without it, you would just have forwards hanging around near the nets waiting for their teammates to boot it to them from midfield. Less skill was required on the ball.
