To find it gross that some couples share a toothbrush?

I honestly think this is a step too far.

Also are you that poor that you cannot afford a second toothbrush?

We share if one of us forgets ours on a trip/holiday, at least until we go and buy a new one anyway. What's the biggie? I've had worse (better? Grin) than his toothbrush in my gob.

Momdeguerre · 25/06/2014 21:04

Hmmmmm, no. I tend to avoid putting any object that has been inside someone else into me.

WowserBowser · 25/06/2014 21:05

I would prefer Jism in my mouth than dental decay.

I realise this is my issue though.

Xihha · 25/06/2014 21:05

ewww, thats just gross, I know I snog DH so have his germs anyway but I've smelled his breath in the mornings, no way would I put that in my mouth through choice! (other unsavoury items that go in my mouth are washed first too)

TurnOverTheTv · 25/06/2014 21:05

Surely it's not as bad as giving a blow job?

odowdandproud · 25/06/2014 21:06

It's nothing to do with sharing bodily fluids. I just find it grim that people do this.

We have two toothbrushes but use them interchangeably.

Sometimes DH drinks 3/4 of a can of coke and I finish it too just to really gross you out.

Xcountry · 25/06/2014 21:10

I've shared a toothbrush loads with DH. Its not that we cant afford another toothbrush, merely someone forgot to pack theirs to go away etc so we will use the one we have till we can get to a shop and buy another one. And lets face it DH's toothbrush is not the only pointy thing belonging to him that has been in my mouth so whats so wrong with it?

Pumpkinpositive · 25/06/2014 21:13

I just find it grim that people do this.

Mais porquoi?

HandMini · 25/06/2014 21:13

We have two toothbrushes but use them interchangeably..

We do this. Esp since they're usually from big multipacks and all look the same anyway.

QisforQcumber · 25/06/2014 21:15

Two toothbrushes, both alike in model
In our fair ensuite where we lay our scene
From ancient brushes upgraded to new
Where our once dirty teeth are now made clean
From mouths that share a kiss and sometimes more
These brushes share a partner swapping life
Chosen only for their proximity
They lie in wait of daily mouth roulette

Grin Practising my iambic pentameter there.
Both of our toothbrushes are exactly the same. I have no idea if its "my" toothbrush or not so I play toothbrush roulette. Makes the day start with a little more excitement.

Bunbaker · 25/06/2014 21:15

This is from a dental health website:

"Sharing a toothbrush leaves people susceptible to all sorts of oral and general health problems. Just because you kiss a partner or occasionally share a fork or spoon during mealtimes with them does not justify using their toothbrush too.

This is because brushing sometimes causes the gums to bleed, which exposes everyone you share your toothbrush with to blood stream diseases. Therefore, by sharing a toothbrush, the couples are actually sharing blood, which is a lot more risky than just sharing saliva.

There are many hundreds of different bacteria and viruses in our mouths and people sharing a toothbrush could be passing these on to others. While this might be something relatively harmless, such as a common cold or cold sore, if the person you are sharing with is infected with hepatitis B or HIV these could also be passed on via the toothbrush with life threatening consequences."

AlpacaYourThings · 25/06/2014 21:17

YABU.

I really am struggling to see how this is a big deal.

Xcountry · 25/06/2014 21:19

There may be different bacteria and viruses about and the person you share it with could have hep b or hiv but I am also pretty damn sure I could also catch all of the aforementioned by basking in his morning glory (apologies for the mental image ladies). I am also a fan of the 10 second rule

CharlesRyder · 25/06/2014 21:19

Q snort Grin

QisforQcumber · 25/06/2014 21:22

"basking in his morning glory"
^ Erotic literature gold right there.

ikeaismylocal · 25/06/2014 21:32

We have an electric toothbrush with 2 heads but they both look identical so we often use the same one.

I'm pregnant and we have a co-sleep ing toddler, often a week goes by where we exchange more bodily fluids via the ttoothbrush than by any other means.

I wouldn't be happy to share a toothbrush with anyone who I wasn't willing to have unprotected sex with and when our dc get old enough to notice we will have strictsseperate rules about toothbrushes even for me and dp to set an example of no toothbrush sharing.

Janethegirl · 25/06/2014 21:32

Yes, we share too, but only if the battery in our toothbrushes has expired Grin

ItsAlmostPerfect · 25/06/2014 21:40

My DP did offer me his when we were away and I'd forgot mine but I just couldn't do it ??

ToAvoidConversation · 25/06/2014 21:42

I would much much much rather give DH a blow job than share a toothbrush. It's just not right!

DoJo · 25/06/2014 21:47

I only share with my husband if one of us has forgotten ours and I would rather not, but if other people want to share then I can't find a single crap to give about it.

kali110 · 25/06/2014 21:47

Iv shared with ex partners in emergencies but dp now wont lol best friend offered hers when id gone to a festival and forgotten mine.id only share with selected few

beccajoh · 25/06/2014 21:48

Eurgh. Yucky yuck. I know we share other bodily fluids but there's something really wrong about sharing a toothbrush. Masticated food, for example.

Needadvice5 · 25/06/2014 21:49

As ridiculous as this sounds there are 4 toothbrushes upstairs and o honestly have know idea which onr is mine.

I replace every couple of weeks and let the dc choose which ones they want and me and dc then choose.

I can never bloody remember, I even wrote our initials in permanent marker on the handles last time but it rubbed off.

I now pick up a random one and hope for the best!

PotteringAlong · 25/06/2014 21:51

We have 2 toothbrushes and, like other poster, use them interchangeably. I have unprotected sex with him, I squeeze his spots, it's never crossed my mind to mind!
