A friend of mine shared this on Facebook and believes the story to be true, I knew she wasn't intelligent but I'm really shocked that because it appears to be a news article on the internet then it must be true, regardless of how impossible the story is!

If your friend continues to believe it no matter what you say then I don't know what the answer is.

ScrambledEggAndToast · 24/06/2014 22:02

GrinGrinYour friend is a bit of a plonker OP!!

WandaFuca · 24/06/2014 22:20

From the same website:

empirenews.net/cops-crack-down-on-teens-abstract-expressionist-painting-while-driving/

"Police across the country are taking part in a new initiative meant to make our roads safer by cracking down on teens and adults who create abstract expressionist paintings while they drive."

Bizarre but true - there have been rare occasions when a foetus has it's own twin growing inside it. (Friend of mine is a midwife - she told me about it ages ago).

HecatePropylaea · 24/06/2014 22:34

Yes, that happens. One twin absorbs the other early in gestation.

pregnant foetus - erm, nope, OP, your friend has an IQ lower than her shoe size.

WandaFuca · 24/06/2014 22:47

I did start off thinking it could be a poorly presented, or sensational reporting of, a case of fetus-in-fetu. But the rest of the site gives the impression of a not very good spoof site. Well, except for the painting-while-driving bit.

But, sadly, there'll always be people who, like Purple's friend, believe that everything they read on the internet is true. And, equally sadly, they're people who probably couldn't grasp the concept of a spoof.

MrsSpencerReid · 24/06/2014 22:54

I did wonder how the sperm had crossed through the amniotic sac and if the baby was at risk of infection and what about the incest?!ShockShockShock It was just one step too far

itsmeitscathy · 24/06/2014 23:17

I wish people would google things before sharing them!

VirkeligRodet · 24/06/2014 23:22

a friend of mine told me that they'd brought dinosaurs back to life. somebody had linked an article from the poke or the waterford whisperer on fb. this woman has a really responsible job.

bungmean · 25/06/2014 00:39

Aphids can give birth to pregnant young. Is your friend green and insecty?

PrincessBabyCat · 25/06/2014 00:43

I feel bad for your friend's DP if she ever decides to have kids. He'll be going 9 months without getting any. Grin

somedizzywhore1804 · 25/06/2014 01:06

You wouldn't believe the amount of people on my FB who have shared this. I'm at prime breeding age, currently pregnant and with lots of pregnant friends and acquaintances so it's been shared under the guise of "be warned pregnant ladies!"

Come on people, use your brains!!!!

gertiegusset · 25/06/2014 01:19

Crikey.

AdeptusMechanicus · 25/06/2014 02:01

If it's a news stories you at least make sure it's from a credible source or at least if it's not, then take it with a 50/50 until another source confirms it.

Birdsgottafly · 25/06/2014 08:01

"pregnant foetus - erm, nope, OP, your friend has an IQ lower than her shoe size."

You can be of low intelligence and still know this cannot be true.

My DD, has moderate LD's, has a true low intelligence diagnosis, yet is knowledgable.

Use the expression, "dumb as fuck" or "hard of thinking", but it would be nice to leave off the insults around "low intelligence", it is more or less the same as saying "is she retarded?", or making Mental Illness/Autistic jokes.

Birdsgottafly · 25/06/2014 08:03

"somebody had linked an article from the poke or the waterford whisperer on fb. this woman has a really responsible job."

You can be highly intelligent, but have trouble deeply thinking about things, or knowing a lot.

My SIL is always sharing stuff akin to the Kentucky fried mouse story or about product recalls that only effect people in China (we live in the UK). I love her to bits a she's a bit dim sometimes bless her Grin

Luggagecarousel · 25/06/2014 08:47

I haven't read the article, as I can't open it, however it might be true.

All sorts of strange things can happen in the creation of a human. it is not unheard of, for example for one twin to partially form inside another, or for hormonal accidents to cause tissue from other areas of the body to form inside a forming womb, such as hair or bone.

it can also be a form of cancer.

HecatePropylaea · 25/06/2014 08:58

Noted, birds, I had not considered that it could be interpreted that way.

MrsSpencerReid · 25/06/2014 09:58

Strange things happening with twins is not what this article was talking about, it mentions early puberty and I'm sure there was a comment about the couple having sex

Luggagecarousel · 25/06/2014 13:27

sounds like complete rubbish then!

"early puberty" might be a reference to a new born sometimes having physical responses to the hormones of the mother? For example may produce milk? it quickly wears off though.

PurplePunkPrincess · 25/06/2014 20:51

The mum even said that her partner is going to become a dad and grandad on the same day!!! Hmm

Even if, somehow, this unborn baby started puberty and his sperm managed to break through the mucus plug, amniotic sac, amniotic fluid, enter the vagina at the right time of her cycle and get her pregnant, they talk as if somehow they'd both survive that!

It's a little bit messed up that someone has dreamt this up!

I'm just going to have to laugh at the people that have fallen for it otherwise it's depressing!

OP posts:
motherofmonster · 25/06/2014 21:41

some people believe anything they read on the internet.
My friend who was recently raising money for wwf said in a straight face that it would be tragic if giant pandas went extinct the same way unicorns did Grin

fluffyraggies · 25/06/2014 21:53

I remember overhearing my gran talking in very hushed tones to her friend, about another friend who had fallen ill.
''According to the doctor'', says my gran, ''all her blood had turned to milk! ... Yes.''

Even as a ten year old i was Hmm and Grin
