To think this is a bit odd

To serve sparkling water only at a children's party, confirmed by party child's mother as it's her DC favourite.
AIBU to think that still water and/or something else should have been provided as well?

YANBU sparkling water is a marmite drink.

Bad hostess skills to not offer plain water.

Would they not give you tap water??

isitsnowingyet · 22/06/2014 08:27

It's a bit late now if the party has already happened.

QOD · 22/06/2014 08:27

Yuck, deffo odd

Groovee · 22/06/2014 08:28

Urgh, I'd have been at her tap with my glass, I can't bear sparkling water.

DDDDDORA · 22/06/2014 09:13

It was the first time that I have left DD at a party. She says she asked for something else to drink but was told that was all there was.
DD was quite upset by the time I picked her up as she was thirsty and had a headache.
I just find it odd that nothing else was provided especially as the venue had a coffee shop attached.

Not a good hostess with the mostest was she?

She should have provided an alternative.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 22/06/2014 09:28

Why couldn't they have given her tap water? Confused

FunkyBoldRibena · 22/06/2014 09:31

Oh my - I hate sparking water. Yuk.

BuzzardBird · 22/06/2014 09:32

How could the host be so narrow minded to think all children like bubbles? I hope my dd would have gone with her cup to the tap. She doesn't like the sensation of bubbles in her mouth at the moment...which I am very silently pleased about.

exexpat · 22/06/2014 09:35

I don't think many children like unflavoured fizzy water, do they? DD does, but DS hated anything fizzy (including coke & lemonade) until he was at least 12. And also hated squash/fruitshoots, so came back from a lot of parties very thirsty. I think plain tap water should always be an option.

SquinkiesRule · 22/06/2014 10:58

Bad hostess, plain tap water should have been offered too. My whole family hate the fizzy water but will happily drink tap water.

ScrambledEggAndToast · 23/06/2014 07:56

Yuck, I personally hate sparkling water. She should have at least offered tap water as well.

Yuck, yanbu op - bad manners.
