Are ASOS struggling? Was very surprised to read this as they are always flagged up as one of the big online success stories. Had a quick google out of curiosity and they look ok Telegraph link. Do they have large historic debts?

Their current problem is likely to be that supplies of good quality large distribution space has been falling over the past few years so limited ready alternative warehouse (and they appear to runout of only one). However, often these buildings are quite basic and can be turned around quite quickly (would think Buncefield different as more potential contamination issues) so might not take too long to get warehouse back into service. Their logistics suppliers may have alternative space they can use in the meantime but this may be in different locations and not much use of Yorks employees.

"Gosh if your not into fashion fair enough, but don't come and call me shallow because I like to dress well."

You can't dress that well if you shop at ASOS.

twistedsista · 22/06/2014 21:27

Ffs, I'm upset about one of my fave shops shutting down, just because you don'tuse them dont have a pop at me

MarmaladeShatkins · 22/06/2014 21:30

They haven't shut down, you narna. They're temporarily closed. By all accounts, they're saying it should be a few days.

And you said you were upset about burnt stuff, not about ASOS closing down (which they aren't.)

Stay strong, Yorkshire! Twisted will be able to support you within a few days.

EddieStobbart · 22/06/2014 21:31

Whereas if you shop at Amazon chic is your middle name - feel the power

MarmaladeShatkins · 22/06/2014 21:34

Oh lordy.

I saw an aging rocker in town yesterday wearing a T-shirt featuring an airbrushed wolf and a lady that looked like a bad Kim Basinger caressing it. Why?

Maybe they didn't get to asos in time to spend their voucher.

Arf!

MoonlightandRoses · 22/06/2014 22:02

Eddie - they are good reviews! (Not so sure about the other photos associated with said t-shirt though) Grin

Chippednailvarnish · 22/06/2014 22:08

In all seriousness, I really hope that the Asos employees keep their jobs.

(but I admit I couldn't give a fuck about the OP's voucher)

Bunbaker · 22/06/2014 22:10

Us Tykes will be strong. We have the TDF to look forward to Smile

ilovesooty · 22/06/2014 23:31

I don't give a stuff about the OP 's voucher either.

The only reason anyone has criticised you is that you haven't got any further than thinking about how it affects you. You chose to post in AIBU and several people chose to tell you that you are.

I'm beginning to agree with those who reckon this is a wind up. Adults don't normally behave like this.

MrsJossNaylor · 23/06/2014 06:47

Oh, OP. If you care so much, drive up to Grimethorpe. There's piles of smoke-damaged clothes outside the warehouse, you might net yourself a bargain.
Plus all those hundreds of NMW workers, many of whom were unemployed for years before ASOS opened up, could probably do with laugh.

MrsJossNaylor · 23/06/2014 06:49

Plus, to clarify, it's not definitely arson. It is being treated as arson and a criminal investigation is underway. A vital difference.

MarmaladeShatkins · 23/06/2014 07:21

You can breathe easy, OP; ASOS are back up and running.

Get that voucher spent, gal.

Chippednailvarnish · 23/06/2014 07:27

And this is on sale.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 23/06/2014 07:32

Dd is bereft (yet gleeful since she has her prom dress already). Very sorry for all those people who work there.

MarmaladeShatkins · 23/06/2014 09:25

Only £58, Chipped!

They're practically robbing themselves selling it that cheap.

napoleonsnose · 23/06/2014 09:41

Well this thread has certainly made me giggle on a Monday morning. I mean really OP, are you being serious? It is surely not possible to become that emotionally attached to faux leather handbags and shoes that don't even belong to someone to the point of being 'really upset'? Its just stuff - they'll be plenty more of it made by underpaid kids in sweatshops sailing the high seas from Asia as we speak.

Chippednailvarnish · 23/06/2014 10:11

Marmalade don't forget she has a voucher!

CiderwithBuda · 23/06/2014 10:30

I saw a photo of the piles of damaged goods. I assume some are damaged beyond repair and I am sure most of the smoke and water damaged stuff is not sell-able but hopefully can be donated to charity. Hope so anyway.

EddieStobbart · 23/06/2014 11:09

That sweatshirt is rubbish.

Only one wolf - ONE??!?

Unbelievable.

Chippednailvarnish · 23/06/2014 11:25

Eddie they do have a two wolf jumper, but I can't seem to link!

IsChippyMintonExDirectory · 23/06/2014 14:39

Jeez people lay off the OP who is anyone to dictate what people can and can't be upset about? Yes it's wise to put things into perspective but where do you draw the line, are we only ever allowed to be upset at the most awful thing that's happening right now in the world? What's upsetting to one person isn't always upsetting to the next and all that jazz!
