You're certainly twisted 'sista'.

Be thankful no one was injured. Where are your priorities?
You're really upset ??

softlysoftly · 21/06/2014 23:55

Klassy erm yes that seems to sum it up nicely.

Trillions · 22/06/2014 00:26

YABU and it's not a factory, it's a distribution centre. ASOS don't make anything in the UK; maybe if they did their stuff wouldn't be so shit. I stopped ordering from them years ago because the quality was so bad. You can tell it's all made in third world sweatshops by sleep deprived five year olds

WhoWantsToLiveForever · 22/06/2014 00:31

YABU. It's stuff that does not yet belong to anyone, hardly sentimental!

Mrsjayy · 22/06/2014 01:52

Id be worried about peoples jobs not about pretty handbags was your post tongue in cheek

Singlesuzie · 22/06/2014 01:58

Everything in our homes is just stuff, stuff is pretty important in life!

The stuff in your home that you have chosen and paid for? Yes, fine to be upset if that got damaged. Stuff in a factory that you never owned or would own? Completely not normal to be upset about that.

CarolineCoffeemugs · 22/06/2014 02:20

All that awesome stuff burning certainly sucks. I don't think you should be too upset though, I'm sure you can get a lot of the stuff sold their elsewhere, if not, find something similar.

Andrewofgg · 22/06/2014 07:03

Trillions Please don't buy into such expressions as "distribution centre". It is, as the BBC call it, a warehouse.

BecauseIsaidS0 · 22/06/2014 07:07

It's not the first time it happens to them. They must be seriously unlucky.

BecauseIsaidS0 · 22/06/2014 07:08

The first time was in 2005

splendide · 22/06/2014 07:19

I'm not sure it's fair to say all their stuff is shit. They carry most brands so it varies.

Chelvis · 22/06/2014 07:24

I'm sorriest for the staff who are probably on zero hour contracts and won't get paid until it's rebuilt.

Batmansbuttocks · 22/06/2014 07:30

I agree OP it is sad. Just because no one died and it's just stuff I am able to feel emotion over the loss. I love ASOS.

Why does something have to be the worst thing imaginable before anyone is allowed to comment on it? There are women being raped in the Congo right now and you're talking about a few handbags and shoes OP, I hope you realise.

Bunbaker · 22/06/2014 08:47

I guess it is because it is close to home in my case. I live in South Yorkshire and the fact that hundreds of people might lose their livelihood just sucks.

ilovesooty · 22/06/2014 08:55

No one said it had to be the worst thing imaginable before anyone was allowed to comment.

I'm still of the opinion that people matter rather more than stuff and the OP 's priorities are bizarre.

I'd hate to be an Asos employee this morning.

londonrach · 22/06/2014 08:56

Very unlucky to have two fires so close together. I feel those loosing their jobs but at least no now was hurt. Insurance will investigate this. If not their fault could take some time to get the money. Not nice.

Damnautocorrect · 22/06/2014 09:06

Buncefield was massive in the area a lot if businesses were affected not just asos.

This second ones a very different story

twistedsista · 22/06/2014 09:44

Ffs I never said handbags are more important than people!

I'm not in mourning, but thinking about all the shoes is upsetting. Have a voucher and want to use it to shop and support the lovely people of Yorkshire!

ilovesooty · 22/06/2014 09:46

I doubt whether you give a stuff about "the lovely people of Yorkshire".

redexpat · 22/06/2014 09:55

I think the other posters are taking this a little more seriously than the OP intended...

Yes it's just stuff, but it's still a shame that it's just gone to waste. It will also affect others in terms of financial loss. And if it's a company that you like, you tend to feel a little more empathy. eg I was quite sad that Woolies closed, yet felt rather less sympathy for h&m.

redexpat · 22/06/2014 09:55

HMV not h&m!

ilovesooty · 22/06/2014 09:58

I don't think the feelings the OP has expressed have anything to do with empathy.

SarahAndFuck · 22/06/2014 10:03

Saw it on the local news here as well (think the warehouse is Barnsley and I am in Doncaster) and was very glad nobody was hurt.

I think they said they hoped to be back up and running in a couple of days, which is good news for the staff if this is true as they will be worried about their jobs now.

But I appreciate your materialistic point OP. I would feel the same about the books if this was Waterstones. As one of the lovely people of Yorkshire, I hope you get to buy your shoes soon Grin

redexpat · 22/06/2014 10:07

Fair point sooty

Exactly! Some women on here are so predictable, I knew feeling a bit upset for the fire at a beloved company would get someone mentioning rape in the Congo!
