There's no need to make everyone else listen to your texting habit..turn your bastard clicker off!

I agree. And it is usually a middle-aged woman, staring down her nose, trying to focus, on her first train journey for years, doing it.

Hoofdegebouw · 20/06/2014 22:11

Yanbu. This winds me up SO MUCH on my commute.
I don't need to hear you texting. Texting is supposed to be a silent activity.
I don't need to hear you sniffing, rummaging about in your make up bag, or filing your nails either.
And I really don't need to wear your perfume or bronzer. Get up earlier and do that at home!
I think I should find a job within walking distance.

itsmeitscathy · 20/06/2014 22:16

YANBU in fact, why can't manufacturers just not make phones with key tones??

JudysPriest · 20/06/2014 22:16

YANBU.

I'm hard of hearing and the noise of the world drives me mad. How everyone with normal hearing gets through the day without head-butting someone into a fine paste I don't know.

itsmeitscathy · 20/06/2014 22:16

*without!!

LadyNexus · 20/06/2014 22:17

First thing I do when I get a new phone with the bloody clicky noise on.

I refuse to use anything until the clicky is switched off!

Fridgedooropen · 20/06/2014 22:19

Totally agree! People in the staff room do this when I'm on my lunch break. Or, as windchime said, on a train. Infuriating. I always want to tell them to hand over their phone and then just switch the tones off.

WanderingAway · 20/06/2014 22:56

YANBU I can not stand the noise of technology.

Every item of technology I have from phones to computers to games consoles gets the volume and sound effects turned off as soon as I get it.

OwlCapone · 20/06/2014 23:01

Meh. There are far more annoying things than this.

OberonTheHopeful · 21/06/2014 00:18

YANBU, drives me mad (irrationally, I concede).

BlackeyedSusan · 21/06/2014 01:05

oh the power to drive you all bonkers!

CottonbudCatastrophe · 21/06/2014 01:08

YANBU. All keypad tones, starting up tones, turned off. Instantly.

chubbymummy · 21/06/2014 01:25

Mine vibrates when I use the keypad and I can't work out how to turn it off. I can't work out a lot of the functions to be honest (Sony Xperia Z2). I love the big screen but I wish I'd never upgraded from my trusty iPhone.

Just went into Language and input but there is no android keyboard section.

KoalaDownUnder · 21/06/2014 08:56

YANBU

Drives me mental.

Bearsinmotion · 21/06/2014 09:00

Grr. DP does this. I've turned it off myself in the past but he's turned it back on. What is the jeffing point?!

HannerHet · 21/06/2014 09:02

I have mine on, doesn't bother me. I don't really notice it. I don't get buses or trains either so I'm not annoying anyone else!

whereisshe · 21/06/2014 09:08

Yes!! Why keyboard tones are required at all is a mystery to me - you know you've pressed a key, you can see your finger and then something happens on the phone. On trains when someone hasn't turned it off I get so wound up (irrationally so, I know). It should be "opt in" as the factory setting.

Mckayz · 21/06/2014 09:10

It is horrible, the first thing I do is turn off the keypad tones on a new phone.

Whatdoiknowanyway · 21/06/2014 09:12

I asked someone in an airport busienss lounge to turn the key tones off. She tried to comply but didn't know how to do it. Really distracting.

ladygracie · 21/06/2014 09:14

I have just realised that mine are turned in. Hadn't even noticed before. Sorry to all those I have already annoyed!!

TSSDNCOP · 21/06/2014 09:19

We have Virgin TiVo and the remote control is silent for everything EXCEPT the keys to open NetFlix then every function has an electronic "bop" sound.
