Even though it's likely to result in a third dc (when it's just not the right time)

I'm just so sick of having my period all the time . Before dc2 the mirena completely stopped my period for 6 years then I got it back in after ds was born and I think my body is making up for those 6 years worth !!

My period comes for about 6-8 days then it lightens up to almost nothing for a day or two then it gets really heavy again for about 3-5 days . This happens every 28 days so there's really only about 10-15 days roughly out the month I don't have a period !

Im just so sick of it ! But I don't know what else to use I got pregnant with dd on the pill and I've heard horror stories about the injection and implant . I just don't like this mirena this time it's making me feel off .

When did you have it put in? Cos I was just getting to the point where I felt the same as you, and then it all stopped and I've had nothing for 2 years. But it did take 5 months or so.

Happydaysatlast · 19/06/2014 12:49

Poor you. Mine was fitted for continuous bleeding 18 months ago and it's just really started to work. Light period every month and happy with that

My teen dd had the implant 2 months ago for similar and for contraception and her periods have stopped, so far!!

Go back, what suited you before now doesn't but there are choices. Go back don't put up with it.

Standinginline · 19/06/2014 12:50

Don't say that ,I'm had mine in yesterday !!

ShoeWhore · 19/06/2014 12:50

I wondered the same as 1stMrsF ? I had the same experience - continuous spotting and then suddenly... nothing. It's great!

Happydaysatlast · 19/06/2014 12:50

As 1st says it can take time.

Happydaysatlast · 19/06/2014 12:52

I was on the point of going back as so sick of the continuous bleeding and then it just stopped almost overnight.

auldspinster · 19/06/2014 12:54

I'm on my second, 10 years since my first was inserted. Used to have super heavy periods that lasted for months. I had a bit of spotting to begin with, have gone for a while with no bleeding, got a year left to run on this one and a light monthly period. Wouldn't be without it!

Northumberlandlass · 19/06/2014 12:58

I am going to GP about mine next week. Had it put in end of Feb so unsure if I've given it enough time to settle.

No mood swings or weight gain - however I've had two periods in last 3 weeks. First was light(ish) which has been the case since it was fitted, then I started spotting a few days after that had finished, last weekend I was flooding Sad I GOT the coil to stop that happening.

Also felt like absolute crap, no energy & falling asleep on my feet.

I was worried it had been displaced, but I can still feel my strings.

Joysmum · 19/06/2014 13:14

I'm chugged with mine. I struggled on every pill with mood swings and heavy periods. Now no mood swings or periods, bliss for me, even better for DH.

olaflikeswarmhugs · 19/06/2014 14:20

I've had it for 15 months now so it should definitely have settled by now ! I really just don't know what todo I'm bleeding so heavy and it's (tmi alert) really bright red and sometimes quite watery for a fortnight at a time that really can't be right ! Sad

Oh that does sound miserable. Back to the Dr I think. I have always found the family planning clinic better than the GP if you have the choice.

I had a terrible time for 3 years previous with the implant, which many swear by, so we are all different, and this sounds like it might not be for you :(
