It's driving me nuts. I've used btinternet email for year and it's been fine. Now it signs me out every time I go onfacebook another tab for a few mins, it tells me there's errors and it can't load, it keeps saying 'please wait' every time I do anything. AAGGHH!! Rant over (phew)

I'm sure it's supposed to improve security but I'm getting SO fed up with having to sign in if I leave the page for 5 mins. Then it goes straight to Home instead of mail.

It's driving me up the wall. Angry
I always have my email running in the background so that I know when a new one arrives - it keeps timing out.
I had to set up all my rules again to direct emails into particular folders.
You can't just delete an email anymore.
It just seems really clunky compared to the old version Sad

Yep, hate it. I have a BT yahoo email account from way way WAY back. The new BT page doesn't always recognise it if I try to log in via a certain route. Very annoying.

I hate that it takes me to the home page rather than mail. I really don't give a toss about their 'headlines' of what irrelevant slebs are doing that day.

weatherall · 19/06/2014 14:50

Oh I'm glad it's not just me getting stressed.

It used to be a different app on my iPhone.

Now I've not got access to my email!

I don't go on desktop/laptop.

I changed the password liked it asked but it won't let me in in my phone.

Maybe I should just get a new email address?

Sallyingforth · 19/06/2014 15:09

You don't need to use the web mail access.

Use a proper email program or app - it's so much easier and more reliable. I've used BT email for years, for business and private emails, and never had a problem with it.

I use Thunderbird on the desktop PC, and Maildroid on phone and tablet.

Sallyingforth bt has always been fine - it's the new version that's a total pain! I have other email addresses but my bt one is the one I usually use so it's a real nuisance to change

if you tick the box when you log in it keeps you logged on but agree it is a pain.

Seeline · 20/06/2014 09:26

It does keep you logged on but still times each session out so you have to go through the bother of logging back in without actually having to type the details Confused Each session only seems to last about 5 minutes which is a real pain if you are waiting for something specific.

I've just had a look at the BT webmail and you are right - it looks a bit of a mess.
I hadn't seen the changes because I use Thunderbird, so never need to log on to webmail.
And having saved your password once in the email program you don't need to log in ever again.

fortyplus · 20/06/2014 22:51

Sallyingforth that's interesting thank you Smile

Is there something wrong with the site at the moment. This morning it said I had 12 days to do something about logging on via the new route, but this evening, I just get a picture of a footballer on the home page and no sign of my e-mails. Instead I keep going round and round in circles logging in. Help!!

alemci · 21/06/2014 08:44

Hi I just went straight back in to email on my main pc after logging in yesterday and ticking button to stay signed in. Try it again.

fortyplus · 21/06/2014 08:59

I've been ticking the box to stay signed in but it still times out if you go on another tab - I have to click back on 'email' and wait while it sorts itself out. Bloody thing is a pain. I can see the benefits in terms of improved security but it's making itself unusable

Okay - they've made changes for a reason. Does anyone know a good reason why they changed it? I can't yet.

VeryDullNameChange · 22/06/2014 16:11

I agree with Sallying. I use BTinternet email but because I use it via Thunderbird I didn't even know there was an issue.
