Muller Ad and Nicole Sherzinger

Last week I complained to the ASA after my five year old saw the Nicole Sherzinger muller ad (the one where she is in the back of the car and allows the yoghurt to go all over her face whilst making sexual noises). According to the ASA it is clear she is "simply enjoying the yoghurt and is not engaged in a sexual act". AIBU to think that they are wrong. The ad is clearly trying to sell yoghurt under the premise that it is "orgasmic". She might not be engaged in a sexual act, but the entire advert is portraying that she is?

Scotch Grin

She looks like a man in drag. I am not jealous, I think many successful beautiful women are stunning and will happily say so. But I do not get the appeal of Schwazenegger and these adverts really piss me off. Do I need to see this manwoman making out like it's attractive and sexual.

KoalaFace · 16/06/2014 22:06

Scotch!

I laughed at that just seeing it in my Threads I'm On list.

colleysmill · 16/06/2014 22:08

This has got me thinking about yoghurt adverts - why do they have so many close up shots of women devouring slowly giant mouthfuls which then illicit a smug smile whilst not actually swallowing any of the product?

Who actually eats like that?

MrsDiesel · 16/06/2014 22:29

Scotch!! I near choked on my mullerlite then.

neiljames77 · 16/06/2014 22:30

But if they showed someone licking the lid, it would look even more suggestive.

colleysmill · 16/06/2014 22:34

I suppose so. I'm trying to think of any adverts showing chaps eating yoghurt, or is the target market ladies only?

Bogeyface · 16/06/2014 22:38

There is definitely a culture of more and more sex in ads and it pisses me off. As PPs have said, kids dont always understand what they are doing/saying when they copy the ads but that doesnt make it ok.

But specifically about these muller ads "Mullerlicious" makes me fucking stabby, and I hate "stabby" as a phrase!

neiljames77 · 16/06/2014 22:38

Diet coke man?

Bogeyface · 16/06/2014 22:41

If the target market is women then why is a face covered in Yoghurtjizz a selling point?!

colleysmill · 16/06/2014 22:45

I was thinking mainly of yoghurt adverts and pondering out loud really. I'm in a pondering moodGrin

Perhaps I should stop now and go to bed!

neiljames77 · 16/06/2014 22:55

So do you think to redress the balance, when George Clooney is doing his coffee ad, do you think he should pour the coffee out of the sachet, then open it up and drive his tongue in and out of it to show how much he likes Nescafe? Grin

Bogeyface · 16/06/2014 22:57

Nope cos the nescrappé ads are also aimed at women, so he should be seen collecting the pots and doing the washing up :o

Talisawasnotsupposedtobethere · 16/06/2014 22:57

She'll be deep-throating Frubes in her next advert, the dirty twat.

Grin Grin Grin

I don't really know what is going on with Scherzinger. I know others will disagree but I do think she is a genuinely talented singer and dancer. I have seen the PCD live and she had a great voice and sung whilst doing some heavy dance routines. And i always thought she was stunning. But now she has just morphed into a sort of embarrassing wannabe or something - that song with the 'me like it when you do down there' or whatever it was was just CRINGE!

The adverts are the same and I agree with joffrey that she is looking more and more like Michael Jackson every time you see her.

colleysmill · 16/06/2014 23:10

To be fair they could just show a nice hot steaming cup of coffee (forget all the fancy bits) and I'd be transfixed, every hot drink I get to at the moment is half cold!

singaporefling · 16/06/2014 23:10

Ooooherrr neiljames have come over all uneccessary at the thought of george 'driving his tongue etc etc' Blush - something only a man would write - men are from mars n'all that Grin

Lalala12300 · 19/10/2014 20:21

If your "orgasms" sound like that, you're clearly doing something wrong!

Ridiculous ad though :)

FreudiansSlipper · 19/10/2014 20:38

I see them as a piss take of herself, overdressed over acting while eating a yogurt she is quite funny when interviewed

ds has seen them I do not think he gives them much thought

i can not get wound up about adverts like this unlike other adverts that are constantly telling us that men are crap at housework so it is better left to women
