I get this impression and have no idea why - is this my imagination or is this the case?

Where are you originally from?

I am thoroughly English.

Vera weisfeld is the only person who ever said, "Do you know who I am?" When I was on the till at my Saturday job. And I wasn't even working in Whateverys!

My favourite shop was Razzle Dazzle, on Buchanan street, where Greggs is now. Sold cheap jewellery.

laracroft2001 · 15/06/2014 19:08

I remember state of independence!white pudding what part of Fife?

Does anyone else remember The Turret? TCC jackets??

INeedSomeHelp · 15/06/2014 19:09

I remember Pentangle in Inverness. Always loads of crap stuff to spend pocket money on.
I also remember Razzle Dazzle in Aberdeen from when I went to college there in the late 80s. I remember having a navy and cream striped knitted skirt from Clockhouse and wearing it with navy loafers I got from Razzle Dazzle.

whitepuddingsupper · 15/06/2014 19:21

State of Independence was in Kirkcaldy, I don't remember there being a Pentangle there but I do remember there being one in Dundee across from wetherspoons. We still have The Turret, I remember buying my first going clubbing clothes from there.

Fortysomethingwinelover · 15/06/2014 19:24

Lala5 · 15/06/2014 19:29

I miss Scotland. I live down south. Grr...

Did anyone used to work in a bar and get macaroni pies on the way home from some random bakery window down Morrisons St in Edinburgh?

Any Edimburgers here?

Mrsjayy · 15/06/2014 19:31

laracroft2001 · 15/06/2014 19:40

tilliebob · 15/06/2014 19:48

The Turret is still in the Mercat in Kirkcaldy Shock

CoreyTrevorLahey · 15/06/2014 19:52

Did anybody ever go into Franx on Pollokshaws Rd in Shawlands. It was run by a really creepy wee perma-tanned guy called (of course) Frank. All the silver lam and wet look leather you could want. I always tried to get my mum to go in there when I was wee but she wasn't having it Grin

tilliebob · 15/06/2014 19:59

Pentangle in Kdy was along past the cinema next to Mr Beaujangles if I remember rightly

TheScottishPlay · 15/06/2014 20:17

I used to work in the office next to Pentangle in Dundee. It was a really handy, quirky wee shop. It wasn't there long though.
Loved Clockhouse. I got my first 'trendy'clothes from there. I think it was somehere in Arnotts I got my Sasperilla jeans.

TheScottishPlay · 15/06/2014 20:17

Forfar has a Turret too.

Embra born & bred but moved out to W Lothian 10yrs ago and love it here. Still close enough to Edinburgh to enjoy the pubs, bars & cafés but love a wee shopping expedition to Glesca.

whitesugar · 15/06/2014 20:33

Just arrived in Scotland this afternoon for a mini break. Love the place, love the city, love the accent. The minute I got on the plane I remembered how much I like Scottish people. Sat beside a drop dead gorgeous man on the plane who chatted away in that sexy way they have, mmm ... When I say sexy - he was about 70 - but really sexy. I met lots of Scottish people whilst living in London a billion years ago. I know no place is perfect but Glasgow is a lovely City. I love it here!!! The accent should be designated a language in its own right. Even the taxi driver spoke in a pretty poetic, sexy way ... Are Del Amitri still going? I once saw them on a flight to Glasgow and fell in love with every single one of them.

FannyFifer · 15/06/2014 20:55

Lara croft, I spent my underage clubbing days in the Lido, then went to Manhattans in Leven, Oscars before it became Ceasars and Jackie'o's of course. GrinGrin

FannyFifer · 15/06/2014 20:57

TCC jackets, god absolutely everyone had them at school they were actually like part of uniform.

BetterTogether75 · 15/06/2014 20:57

British Shock

laracroft2001 · 15/06/2014 20:58

I got one every year for school! Always with the red tartan lining!!

There was also a thing for NafNaf jerseys but not sure if that was just Scotland!!

laracroft2001 · 15/06/2014 20:59

Oscars!! That's what it was called!
Can't keep up with all the name changes it had!

Eghamite · 15/06/2014 20:59

laracroft2001 · 15/06/2014 21:00

Was there a pub called Smithys where everyone underage went? Not far off the highstreet, just up from the big car park behind that old huge furniture shop/cafe continental
