I get this impression and have no idea why - is this my imagination or is this the case?

Where are you originally from?

I am thoroughly English.

I'm originally from EK, it was mum, dad, nana and papa for us.
Were all Jock Tamsons bairns anyway.

WildThong · 13/06/2014 22:28

Oh and someone upthread mentioned Paisley Boys - Paulo Nutini anyone?

RawCoconutMacaroon · 13/06/2014 22:28

Yanbu, there seems to be a lot more than the 10% Scottishness on MN.

Scottish, and my Ma and Da where also often called "Mither" and "Feather".

EddieStobbart · 13/06/2014 22:42

Ok, about half the glaswegians I've ever met went to private school, most of my Glaswegian work colleagues and my ex-bf and his brother. Must have skewed my impression though I did think I'd read it that it was quite high somewhere and that matched my personal experience. I stand corrected. I find it very strange anyway as only the super-posh paid fees where I grew up (Dumfries & Galloway) so coming to university was a bit of a shock.

Most of my colleagues have kids at private school - including the Glaswegian ones!

BertieBotts · 13/06/2014 22:42

Sorry if this is repeated.

The stats will be in the last MN census.

Population of Scotland is around 9% of population of GB plus there will be Scots living in other places.

9-10% of MNers is going to feel like a lot but it's not a majority.

Interestingly population of London is higher, around 11% of GB.

OOAOML · 13/06/2014 22:43

Couldn't be bothered doing all that for breakfast - I'll go all soft southerner and have cereal.

fuckweasel · 13/06/2014 22:43

Always 'baffies' in my house growing up. Fifer parents!

MintChocAddict · 13/06/2014 22:44

Another Scottish burd here.

In fact given that I've had two cans of Irn Bru in the last hour I think I'm even Scottisher Wink than you lot. Am also a bit sweary.

Might have to take five points off though for not having any bevy with my Bru.
