I get this impression and have no idea why - is this my imagination or is this the case?

Where are you originally from?

I am thoroughly English.

Letthemtalk · 13/06/2014 22:08

PhaedraIsMyName · 13/06/2014 22:08

Oddly my precious little dear thinks it's hilarious to call me "Maw" I thought it was Dundonian, not Glaswegian.

WanderingAway · 13/06/2014 22:08

There is only one private school where i live & thats a boarding school where a certain royal went.

babyboomersrock · 13/06/2014 22:10

Scottish. From a part of Scotland where folk still call their mother their mammy and children are weans.

MrsMot · 13/06/2014 22:11

Scottish living in England, we're the only bit of the family that 'emigrated'.

fairnotfair · 13/06/2014 22:11

English - albeit Northumbrian - and the product of Scots boarding school!

FannyFifer · 13/06/2014 22:11

Don't say maw here, fife def has it's own weird pronunciations & words.

Sometimes say " how's your brer?" for brother. No idea how to spell it and "How's your mer" for mum. Grin

scottishmummy · 13/06/2014 22:13

Eddie private school in glasgow is v uncommon
Not so in edinburgh

scottishmummy · 13/06/2014 22:13

Ma/mammy/maw yes
Weans yes

GoldenGytha · 13/06/2014 22:14

Agree with weather all and Pumpkin,

I do get annoyed when everything is referred to as "In England"

Makes me want to scream "We're not all English!"

tabulahrasa · 13/06/2014 22:18

Well there's that joke isn't there, in Glasgow they ask what school you went to to work out if you're Protestant or Catholic and in Edinburgh it's to see what class you are.

So if I base all my logic on jokes, there must be more private schools in Embra...that'll make mushrooms happy and scones fast as well, so I think it's a sound way of determining facts?

Aliceinvodkaland · 13/06/2014 22:19

i think frankie boyle is fuckin funny.. is that scottishist?

Pumpkinpositive · 13/06/2014 22:19

Has anyone done the "How Weegie are You?" Test?

I am Alex Ferguson. I inspire fear in everyone whenever I open my mouth. Even it it's just to pay a compliment.

Sounds good. Grin

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 13/06/2014 22:19

OOAOML · 13/06/2014 22:24

I used to think Frankie Boyle was funny, but he crossed the line spectacularly and now I think he's a wee shite.

IckleBird · 13/06/2014 22:24

Im half scottish and English brought up in Edinburgh and still live here more or less.usually type in english though.
I hardly hear folk say ma or maw but my dp does and when my bairn copies I go a bit twitchy.

I dont get the whole scots hate the english or vice versa.i dont believe its true.
Healty competitiveness/rivalry maybe..

As you can tell im not pished..yet.

SantanaLopez · 13/06/2014 22:25

Grin I love that the girl in the 24 hour Greggs photo is barefoot and in a tiny wee dress, despite the puddles!

OOAOML · 13/06/2014 22:25
