YANBU! Totally reasonable! Although admittedly when I was a year 9 I went to bed around 10.30 Grin

Vajazzler · 10/06/2014 21:24

Totally reasonable.

Kbear · 10/06/2014 21:24

he copes so much better with the day when he has a good sleep so my rules stands, was just wondering

I think 9pm is perfectly reasonable - then maybe read etc. for half an hour.

LIZS · 10/06/2014 21:25

yanbu. Year 8 dd took herself off a little while ago.

goshdarnit · 10/06/2014 21:25

My year 8 dd will be in bed in 10 minutes, a half hour increase on last year.

Her year 10 brother will be in bed by 10, but sounds like he's probably in already.

So, no, YANBU.

On Friday and Saturday, they can go to bed later, but Sunday night, 9pm for all

Taz1212 · 10/06/2014 21:26

YANBU at all. DS is 12 and he is in bed at 9:00. He does have to get up for school at 6:30AM so if your son gets to sleep later in the morning maybe YABU a little bit and could let him stay up a bit later...

hamptoncourt · 10/06/2014 21:26

YANBU. I turn the internet off.

I have been known to actually unplug the router and hide it.

DC give up trying to stay up "late" without internet.

Problem solved.

Lilaclily · 10/06/2014 21:27

Yanbu

I went to bed at 9pm until I was 16 I think

Yes I could read, write my diary Blush but tbh it did me a world of good

Still go to bed no later that 10pm in the week Blush

FloozeyLoozey · 10/06/2014 21:30

Depends what time he has to be up. That's 11 hrs sleep if he's up at 8.

MeanwhileHighAboveTheField · 10/06/2014 21:30

dd is 13 next week and goes to bed at 9pm

Kbear · 10/06/2014 21:38

he's up at 7 and at school by 8 !

Surely it depends on the individual and how well they cope with less/more sleep.

Itsfab · 10/06/2014 21:39

In order of going to bed

8 year old
13 year old
10 year old

8 year old pisses about every bloody night. Tomorrow is going at 6.30 Hmm.
13 year old goes no problems and gets himself up at 6.20 for school.
10 year old has a lot of trouble sleeping and I worry about her.

hamptoncourt · 10/06/2014 21:40

Up at 8?

Do you live next door to school floozey? Grin

Rideronthestorm · 10/06/2014 21:40

10pm for me at that age - still up at 6 to see to my horse.

rockinghorseShit · 10/06/2014 21:40

dd in year 9 goes to bed at 9pm, same time as ds who is in year4, but he needs less sleep than she does!

RoaringForties · 10/06/2014 21:40

yep ds is nearly 13 and is in bed by 9 on a school night.

KaFayOLay · 10/06/2014 21:41

My yr7 dd goes at 9pm, later Fri and Sat though.

Hulababy · 10/06/2014 21:41

DD is also 12y and in y7. Time to go to bed/lights out is also around 9pm Sunday - Thursday. She gets up for school at 7am. She doesn't always go to sleep straight away but I think its important she tries to get to sleep at a reasonable time. If she really isn't sleepy she can read if she wishes. She usually chooses not to. She will have been reading for the past hour or so anyway many evenings so is pretty relaxed by 9pm.

Weekends are very flexible and often later.

Even if she wasn't going to sleep I still want her upstairs in bed.

Kbear · 10/06/2014 21:44

thanks - was just checking cos apparently EVERYONE goes to bed later!! He is asleep within minutes of being in bed and wakes up at 7 ok so it's all fine but I was wondering if I was being mean. It's different at weekends of course. He can stay up later then, it's just sleep is the answer I think to surviving a day at school/work - anyway, I'm off to bed myself now lol!
