To expect some info on starting school?

It's my pfb starting in September, so not sure if my expectations are off.

Since being told we have been allocated a place, we have been sent one letter from the school asking if we will be accepting the place. This letter mentioned that the dc will have a period of a few weeks' part time attendance but no further detail. Since then we have heard nothing.

I popped into the reception of school and asked but they said to wait for info by post. I have mentioned it to a few other parents at nursery but they are mostly familiar with the school due to older dc etc and seem unruffled.

Is this usual? I am someone who likes to have information - I read up on anything new to me, so I'm frustrated that I'm in the dark about when they are starting, the uniform/pe kit etc. Friends have managed to get this info from the website or special info sessions but our school doesn't seem to have these.

Sounds a bit slack.. We have induction week this month where everyone moves up a year and the new intake come in for afternoons or morning for a week to see the new school and meet the teachers ect then during summer holidays parents have two meetings about everything then 2 week slow start to school. We knew all of this by the end of May start of June.

If you think it's bad at primary school, wait until secondary!

I've had nothing. Not a peep. Heard a rumour we might hear something this week. A bit peed off as every other local school seems to have sent something out.

Yanbu. We had a letter from the school within 2 weeks of 16th April. There was a new parent's evening on 15th May when a big wodge of information/forms was given out. There are some stay and play sessions scheduled in throughout June and July and DD has already been to the first.

This was a couple of years ago for us, but I remember we got the offer of a place on the Wednesday and a lovely big envelope of information arrived in the post on Saturday.
