It doesn't seem right to have young people in vest tops presenting it.

Shakirasma · 08/06/2014 17:31

YABU

JennyOnTheBlocks · 08/06/2014 17:32

Why, OP?

TucsonGirl · 08/06/2014 17:32

What are "country looking people"?

libertytrainers · 08/06/2014 17:34

i can't stand the presenters they annoy me for some reason so yes i agree with you op Grin

JonSnowKnowsNothing · 08/06/2014 17:35

Haha! I know what you mean but I disagree. Grin

shakethetree · 08/06/2014 17:37

I like John Craven - but I'd like to see a farmers wife ( type ) in her 60's presenting it too - it's all young girls atm who'd look more at home presenting CBeebies.

As long as they are enthusiastic and knowledgable about the countryside then how does it matter

What should country people look like anyhow to fit your criteria.

NinetyNinePercentTroll · 08/06/2014 17:38

Ruddy faced, apple cheeked, Aunt Sally types?

shakethetree · 08/06/2014 17:40

Exactly!

OP posts:
JennyOnTheBlocks · 08/06/2014 17:41

Yes, we need a apple-cheeked farmer's wife, wearing an apron perhaps?

SauvignonBlanche · 08/06/2014 17:49

Why've they put it on 2 hours early?

JennyOnTheBlocks · 08/06/2014 17:51

So the youngsters can watch it before bedtime, Blanche? Grin

shakethetree · 08/06/2014 17:51

Oh I'd love that Jenny. I think I'll write into them.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 08/06/2014 17:52

They did used to have older presenters. They got rid of them in favour of bright young things. Here.

cantbelievethisishppening · 08/06/2014 17:52

Country looking people Hmm

ShatnersBassoon · 08/06/2014 17:53

Op, watch reruns of 'The Darling Buds of May' on ITV3. It's like Countryfile for people who have no interest in rural affairs but who like ruddy-faced children in lovely floral pinafores.

YouTheCat · 08/06/2014 17:54

I hope you don't mean Matt Baker? He's a proper country lad.

Tbh the older presenters used to bore me rigid.

Floggingmolly · 08/06/2014 17:54

I agree with you, op.

SauvignonBlanche · 08/06/2014 17:55

Good point Jenny, DH unhappy that he's missed it, I hate Grand Prix!

Idontseeanyicegiants · 08/06/2014 18:02

Matt Baker is a farmers son isn't he? One of the other blokes is a farmer, they have a weather bod on sometimes and Ellie Harris (I think) isn't exactly a wet behind the ears youngster (well, if she is then so am I Grin)
My dairy farmer FIL doesn't complain about the female presenter anyway, he regularly comments on her having talent, brains and a pretty face!

Idontseeanyicegiants · 08/06/2014 18:03

And wtf is a country looking person?

ShatnersBassoon · 08/06/2014 18:03

It's Ma Larkin.

Idontseeanyicegiants · 08/06/2014 18:04

Ah, in that case I should go for the job... Grin Grin

YouTheCat · 08/06/2014 18:05

When I lived in Lincolnshire the 'country looking' folk were the ones who were all each others' sisters' mothers' cousin. Wink

springlamb · 08/06/2014 18:11

Proper country folk don't have the time to be gallivanting around doing telly.
Too busy doing stuff, growing stuff, feeding stuff, fixing stuff, stepping in smelly stuff.
Wotsisname with the farm couldn't be off sallying forth to Scotland to buy a new Aberdeen Angus if he hadn't pressed his poor old dad into slave labour covering for him.
