...Some of us would like to enjoy the birdsong and do a bit of quiet reading.

Bastards.

Outside, not pitside, I don't even know what that is.

Bunbaker · 08/06/2014 23:10

I am sitting here listening to a couple of owls hooting to each other. I think it is a wonderful sound.

samsam123 · 08/06/2014 23:13

hate it too why cant you just sit in the garden in silence if you want to listen to music use earphones don't inflict it on the whole neighbourhood

TheFairyCaravan · 08/06/2014 23:14

I hate hearing other people's music when I am in the garden. We have lots of lovely birds who sing in the sunshine, I much prefer listening to that..

RazzleDazzleEm · 08/06/2014 23:18

Bonfires....

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

A small pile of dry leaves if you must, but people round here chuck all sorts on...and it goes on all day. horrendous.

mistlethrush · 08/06/2014 23:32

My neighbours used to play music really quite loudly in their garden. One sunny afternoon I was quietly gardening and they had their music on - something came on that I knew, so I joined in. I'm a fairly good singer - not particularly quiet and as the music was a decent level I joined in at an appropriate level for my garden. Their dogs started barking, and there were sounds of surprise and the volume was turned down immediately - and it was never played at the same volume out there again! Grin

Ooh owls, yes, owls are nice, I don't mind owls.

Or cuckoos. Or woodpeckers. Or blackbirds. Or pigeons.

Just not fucking rooks.

Bunbaker · 09/06/2014 00:04

Blackbirds sit on the gable end of our house in the evening and sing their hearts out. It is so beautiful. The downside is that I always have a lot of bird shit to clean up right outside the kitchen door.

Lagoonablue · 09/06/2014 08:34

Just moved and lovely to hear lots of birds in my garden. At my last house loads of people have cats so the birds kept away.

My neighbours don't so much play music but they shout a lot. He seems constantly pissed off. The man occasionally mows his lawn, gets half way then stomps off leaving the mower plugged in. It is left for days, even in the rain! Bizarre.

This is on top of hanging out washing for days on end and leaving it to fester in the rain or letting their kids leave all their bikes and stuff on the drive and front pavement for days. How they aren't nicked I do not know.

Odd people.

echt · 09/06/2014 08:38

If there are enough trees and shrubs, cats don't keep birds away.

Lagoonablue · 09/06/2014 08:39

They were not many birds or trees or shrubs tbh. Mainly back yards. Also I am talking about ALOT of cats. One woman had 19 and practically every other house had one or 2.

calmet · 09/06/2014 08:44

Cats do keep birds away. We used to have lots of birds in the garden. Since a neighbours cat spends a lot of time in our garden, we don't. There are other gardens for them to go to that are cat free.

MacenroeTheBoatAshore · 09/06/2014 17:04

that's the thing though, the police and council just don't do anything. they must have so many complaints yet these feckers ALWAYS get away with it, why should they?

MacenroeTheBoatAshore · 09/06/2014 18:45

Every other thread on MN seems to be about anti social behaviour and fecking neighbours.

so why doesn't the law work on them then? how the feck do they get away with it?

KatieKaye · 09/06/2014 18:55

Former neighbours were always complaining about the noise 3rd neighbours made. Until one day her son let slip she listened with a glass against the wall! And if corse she always played music loudly in the garden. If I wanted to listen to Quo, I would have their albums... I hate being forced to listen to someone else's crap music when I'm trying to relax
