to be annoyed that the seats on my SEAT car are being stained by water

Collected the car a fortnight ago - just a year old - seats perfect.

After just 2 weeks the seats are now covered in stains from dashes of rain water and from a water bottle that leaked a little - just plain water, but is causing staining.

What's going on? AIBU to be annoyed to think this is not right?

My Fiat 500 has exactly the same problem. Always from a leaking water bottle but looks like someone has been ' caught short '! Not very nice.

A while ago I tried using a steam cleaner which did make a difference but not sure that the (lengthy) effort was worth the so-so results. And then this week a slightly unscrewed bottle left a huge 'pee' stain on the passenger seat again. Grrrr Angry

Ridiculous that the manufacturers can't source a fabric that ISN'T stained by contact with WATER!

I have the same problem with my clio. It has beige seats and when i open the door when it is raining, the rain drops stain the seat. I now have splodgy seats Angry
I havent tried cleaning them as i don't see the point coz its always bloody raining so the splodges will surely return.

Glad I'm not alone.
Angry from me too.

You can get fabric coatings that repel water. If you get your car protected by diamondbrite or similar then the fabric coating usually comes included- the main reason why we got it done. Or failing that, you can get sprays to do yourself at home. Not sure how good they are though.

I had this with my Fiesta. I managed to get all the marks out by using the carpet washing Vax on the seats after scrubbing them all over with a soaking wet towel.

Electric steam mop might have worked if I'd had one at the time.

Hence why I only bothered when it was time to sell!

And it took several days of parking in direct sunlight to dry the seats! Was driving around sitting on towels in the meantime.
