I don't agree with the "modernising" of old books and plays and not syndicating old TV and movies with attitudes of the past that were held by virtually everyone in that time - for example the mass support for the White Australia policy until the 1950s and the fact that pretty much no one in the Anglo world thought Jews were morally equal to Christians before WWII.
I think that it glosses over and distorts the reality of the past.
