Settle an argument I am having with DH

DH keeps saying 'Righty Cokey' whenever he is expressing that he understands, it's a 'hilarious' mix of 'Righty-o' and 'Okey cokey'. I have suffered this for several weeks now, but have tonight said that if he says it again I will, with great regret, have no choice but to LTB.

He thinks I am a spoilsport and 'Righty Cokey' is innovative and amusing, but says that if the Mumsnet jury says so, he will desist from using the expression.

Mumsnet, for the love of God, AIBU?

You can twat him for that Hmm

picnicbasketcase · 03/06/2014 21:55

I don't know, but it would annoy me less than righty cokey

storytopper · 03/06/2014 21:59

My DH tends to come out with stuff like this. Well, he is in his sixties and his DF was prone to doing the same.

Whenever he adopts a new catch phrase, I repeat it back to him ad nauseam, and I make even more annoying variations.

e.g. "okey dokey" will be met with "okey dokey yes indeedly doodly iddly widdly"

He gets the message.

JeanSeberg · 03/06/2014 22:00

I refuse to believe that anyone who can utter Righty Cokey can have any redeeming features at all.

storytopper · 03/06/2014 22:00

P.S. YANBU at all

ivykaty44 · 03/06/2014 22:02

Its not funny or clever that's why people font say it

MaidOfStars · 03/06/2014 22:05

ScrambledSmegs
Personally I wouldn't LTB though. I'd just kill him with a frozen lamb leg and cook the evidence

That is Roald Dahl and I claim my prize.

Possibly one of the most battered books on my shelf!

Smilesandpiles · 03/06/2014 22:10

Kill him.

No jury will ever convict you.

MoonRover · 03/06/2014 22:10

Every time he does it, bray loudly like Janice from Friends. I think he will crack first.

Also he may keeelll you and a sympathetic jury will let him off.

So, er, your choice. But I'd go for it because at this rate I too would have topped myself. And then him.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/06/2014 22:11

JUST STOP IT RIGHT NOW

it is not funny, do you enjoy deliberately annoying your other half?

so not unreasonable good luckwith getting the twonk to stop.

Catsize · 03/06/2014 22:11

Just tell him to turn around. That's what it's all about.

MrsCosmopilite · 03/06/2014 22:14

Is he Rik from the Young Ones? Sounds like something he'd say.

ScrambledEggAndToast · 03/06/2014 22:20

LTB Grin My partner has made the mistake of saying Tommy K for tomato sauce a couple of times recently. It really sets my teeth on edge. I just innocently pretended I had misheard him and said "sorry, didn't catch that, was it the tomato sauce you were after"

We don't say Maccy D's but we do say Crappy D's instead. Where would that lie in Captial offences?

ILoveWooly · 03/06/2014 22:35

I say LTB too Wink.

Southsearocks · 03/06/2014 22:38

Is he Martin from Ever Decreasing Circles?

headlesslambrini · 03/06/2014 22:39

Sorry but you married a twat.

picnicbasketcase · 03/06/2014 22:39

I would have to screech and/or leave home if my DH said either tommy k or maccy d's. Or Marshmellow.

NaturalBaby · 03/06/2014 22:40

Reminds me of an oft use saying in our house: hokey cokey pig in a pokey.

LadyHarrietdeSpook · 03/06/2014 22:42

Strangle him.

ScrambledSmegs · 03/06/2014 22:45

And the Roald Dahl Totally Not Unexpected prize goes to MaidofStars Grin

I love that story. We actually studied it in English at the age of 13. I reckon it gave us all Ideas...
