I might claw my own fAnjo off, it's so flaming itchy!

Just back from Spain, hideous thrush, not had it in eons, got some cannestan but it's not even touched the sides. No pun intended.

Please help me, I'm still young!

Hot, sore, itchy as a mo fo.

I've had a cool wash in water with a bit of tea tree, slathered on the useless cream, got some cotton knickers on.

Gah!

Take the oral tablet. It's the only thing that works. Naturally, it's stupid expensive (go figure Hmm ). No sugar, no wine, no fruit. For a week Sad.

OscarWinningActress · 03/06/2014 23:03

And don't sit around in a wet bathing suit with a towel wrapped around you on holiday!

nilbyname · 03/06/2014 23:06

Pibin sorry to hear that. I'm giving all my hope to the overnight pessary and hope that in free of fire crotch
tomorrow!

Go to a herbalist tomorrow (and yes, you can take the day off) and get a mega acidipholous tablet as pps have said. Also get tea tree pessaries. An anti-histamine tonight will give you some relief as well as the canestan.

Cut out all yeast for a week. And also do get a standard GP appt to make sure it was thrush - it's often mis (self) diagnosed.

Pipbin · 03/06/2014 23:11

Oh Oscar, get the generic tablet from the chemist. I think I got my last one from Lloyds and it was about £4.
I always have cystitis powder in the cupboard now, and I haven't had it since. I might do the same with thrush treatment.

Beavie · 03/06/2014 23:27

You don't need to go to a herbalist to get acidophilus, any decent health food shop sells it. But yes, get the pricey stuff out of the fridge, don't fuck around with the cheapy stuff.

balenciaga · 04/06/2014 00:16

I have just seen off a bout with a tampon with a few drops of tea tree oil dotted on it, instant relief Blush

gertiegusset · 04/06/2014 00:21

Embarrassing bodies might be able to help.

InspirationFailed · 04/06/2014 00:25

Co-incidence but I've just returned from Spain and have the same symptoms - I thought I had got some sort of reaction from shaving my bikini line or something (I got carried away and shaved totally) the itching!! It's awful.

HoopyViper · 04/06/2014 00:26

Is it wrong that I am bloody loving this thread?

It's hilarious!

I almost want to vote it for classics!

Appropriate sympathy for OP though....

CarbeDiem · 04/06/2014 02:00

balenciaga

You use Tea tree neat on a tampon, like without diluting?
Flaming.Fanjo.Of.Steel.

Sorry for hijack - hope you're feeling a little relief by now op.

musicalendorphins2 · 04/06/2014 03:09

Your hair dryer, held about 12 inches away in low heat, for a couple of minutes. Damp makes thrush worse, so do this after a bath and maybe a couple of times a day. Childrens hospital told me to do that for ds2's diaper rash.
Oh, if your dr see's you, and thinks it is bad enough he can prescribe a mix of anti-fungal/steriod cream. The best stuff I ever had!

balenciaga · 04/06/2014 04:14

Yep carbdiem Blush neat

Only like about ten small drops in total, didn't hurt honestly. I would not recommend if already sore and raw but u did it as soon as it started

I have used the canesten pessaries in the past but I was fucked if I was either a)waiting for gp appt to get a free one or b) paying 15+ quid for one. So I googled and found that tea tree oil helps and that was the only was I could think of getting it to where it needed to be Grin

balenciaga · 04/06/2014 04:15

i did it as soon as it started I mean

Dazoo · 04/06/2014 08:53

OP, if it doesn't calm down with the pessary it could be that it isn't just thrush and you really should see a doctor.

Horror story to follow... I caught a nasty fungus in Huelva, Spain years ago and needed stuff a lot stronger than the regular canestan type remedies. I had ulcers and even needed to have healing lazer treatment. The lazer bit was nothing in comparison to having spend 5 days at my bf's family's home with my legs open and his mother putting cream on my bits.
That is an experience that had been totally wiped from my memory until I read this thread.

balenciaga · 04/06/2014 09:06

Omg dazoo poor you Shock

musicalendorphins2 · 04/06/2014 09:12

Oh Dazzo, I feel your pain! I had an allergic reaction to some sort of wash, as part of the prep for having that test where the bladder is fulled with water....I was supposed to get a bladder lift, but refused to go back after they "weren't sure" what the products the nurse used were during the test.

Going commando when you have a leaky bladder-tricky.

dazoo That sounds horrific! i don't know wants worse, the pain or the bf mum helping you out!

Breaking news...

The pessary did not work. I drove to work, while rocking up and down the car seat, itching like mad. Called in sick, rocked/drove back home.

Had 3 slightly embarrassing conversations, one with my boss (male, knows no boundaries) who said "I hope your lady area gets well soon" as a send off. One with the head of vulnerable learners, and then one with the doctor who is seeing me at 11, for swabs.

I hate swabs.

This is the woman (me) who whilst in the throws of childbirth, would not take her knickers off, and then when I finally had to, made them cut them off me. Idiot. Ended up with C-sections with both kids anyway!

RunDougalRunQuiteFast · 04/06/2014 09:30

'Lady area'! Grin

Hope you get better soon, thrush is the devil's own misery. I had it over Xmas and new year last year, thought I was going to ave to chop my bits off.

Deathraystare · 04/06/2014 09:31

My sympathies, ladies. It all sounds very similar. Well, not childbirth. I seem to have ulcers/pustules of some sort as well as thrush on and off. Had it since just before Easter. Only trouble is I am living sort of temporarily with my mum, so you have to fill in a form at the drs to temp join their surgery. You need proof of who you are. They expect driving licence (don't drive), passport (out of date -who can afford holidays? etc etc). Have no utility bills as that is payed in my rent so no other proof.

Luckily I got in as an emergency -could hardly walk as it rubbed and some areas had big lumps (tmi I know!). Dr gave me a weeks antibiotics which helped a bit but it is all back now. Also a big tablet which was afraid to take at first as I tried a tablet before and had a huge throbbing head. So much so I worried about a brain tumour!

I have doused in yogurt, sudocream, some cream from Boots called Euralax which stung at first then cooled it all down, pro-shield, vaseline, canestan (cream and pessary), vagasil, even that expensive manuka honey. Will now try tree tea oil.

Waiting for new passport to arrive.

At the moment I feel like I have been attacked by a cheese grater/flame thrower combined.

Have to sit carefully in a car and these roads are full of potholes (Hampshire). Nice.

Deathraystare · 04/06/2014 09:34

Oh and just to say I had some very large spots (boils) on the actual 'front bottom' -I actually applied TCP there -dabbed it on the spots as I used to for the spots on my face. However, I would not use it anywhere else 'down there!'.

HOrrible to say, but glad I am not alone.

p.s Never been near a Spanish Swimming pool! Haven't been near any pool for decades!

nilbyname · 04/06/2014 09:37

death blimey, you win.

Poor you, it IS horrible. The way I read your post it sounded like your waiting on your passport to fly, fly away from your fanny.
