I might claw my own fAnjo off, it's so flaming itchy!

Just back from Spain, hideous thrush, not had it in eons, got some cannestan but it's not even touched the sides. No pun intended.

Please help me, I'm still young!

Hot, sore, itchy as a mo fo.

I've had a cool wash in water with a bit of tea tree, slathered on the useless cream, got some cotton knickers on.

Gah!

You can get a Canesten duo pack, with the pessary and some extra-strength cream.

Cotton undies/lying about nekkid helps.

YouAreCompletelyRight · 03/06/2014 17:46

Will a piriton tablet or two help the itch? I know it works with other itches.

DramaAlpaca · 03/06/2014 17:48

I'm sure you can get Canesten pessaries from the chemist without a prescription.

Hope you feel better soon, OP.

nilbyname · 03/06/2014 17:48

Piriton turns me do lally, but thanks for the suggestion.

I'm in the bath. It's quite nice no itching, but it's all very.....raw down there.

Poor me.

PedantMarina · 03/06/2014 17:50

Haven't even touched the sides ... no pun intended

Sorry, OP I can't stop laughing at this. Grin

Sorry. Sad

isabellavine · 03/06/2014 17:51

Piriton (chlorphenamine) and loratidine cause drowsiness, hence the doolalliness... but cetirizine hydrochloride is an anti-histamine that doesn't (at least for most people), so you could try that for the itching?

WitlessEeyore · 03/06/2014 17:53

I had a prescription from the Dr last time I had thrush for a pessary. When I went to fill it, the pharmacist sold me a cheaper generic version OTC. It worked a treat.

YouAreCompletelyRight · 03/06/2014 17:53

Grin I quite enjoy a bit of piriton induced doolallyness!

DashingRedhead · 03/06/2014 17:53

Just be absolutely sure it's thrush. I had months of misery thinking I had it, it turned out to be bacterial vaginosis and required completely different type of treatment.

MrsCripps · 03/06/2014 17:56

Yes you can get it over the counter - get thee to a late opening chemist OP.

betold · 03/06/2014 17:57

Flucanozol is the stuff, you can get a prescription or buy it over the counter. Shop around though, supermarket pharmacy will be £4 cheaper than Boots for the unbranded stuff (and cheaper than a prescription)

CarbeDiem · 03/06/2014 17:57

I'll share my best remedies as canesten doesn't work for me.

I've used tea tree oil (1 part tea tree to 10 or 20 parts cooled boiled water, depends how strong you want it) soak a tampax in the water and insert overnight (do a test first, leave for one hour before leaving overnight) you can also bathe the outside areas with the mixture.
It cleared it up within days and it never came back for over a year.

I've just had it again (first time since using Tea tree) but couldn't get any oil this time so I used garlic. Yes a piece of garlic in my fanjo :)
I was a bit scared but tested first - again for one hour before leaving it overnight.
You can use it after peeling without any cuts to it but by piercing it with your nail a few times it makes the effect stronger so that's what I done. Push it up as far as possible and be ready to have to hook it out the next morning (easy done while sitting on the loo) It can't go anywhere exept the top of your fanjo so even if feels stuck it will come back down.
2 nights was all it took and the thrush was gone completely inside.
You can also slice some garlic add boiling water to make a wash for the outside, when it's cold it's so relieving.
You do reek a little and after a while you can taste garlic in your mouth -I shit you not - but it's worth it to get rid.

Isabelleforyourbicycle · 03/06/2014 17:58

What about an ice lolly? If you have any condoms, freeze one with water and well, apply.

So shopping list for husband: ski yoghurt and a calypso.

nilbyname · 03/06/2014 17:59

Ok....I'm thinking to jump in the car and get something else over the counter....I just need sleep now it's been a shitey end to the last few days of my holiday!

Dr hasn't rung back. Arse face.

Thanks for the other non piriton description, I took Dhs anti histamine tablet once. Knocked me put for 36 hours. I thought I was dead. Then a bot alive. Then more dead and then like a dreamy half dead.

FannyFifer · 03/06/2014 18:00

All this messing around with bloody yogurt & garlic, just go get the tablet. Diflucan (fluconazole) it's not medieval times.

CarbeDiem · 03/06/2014 18:00

*Disclaimer I should have added - You MUST be sure it's thrush although both methods would help clear bacteria for BV too.

nilbyname · 03/06/2014 18:01

Actually lolling at the condom suggestion! Grin

OP posts:
Meow75 · 03/06/2014 18:01

And get the own brand one - not Canestan.

£2.50 versus £8.00!!!

Just ask for fluconazole as a PP mentioned.

Gruntfuttock · 03/06/2014 18:03

OP, I must apologise to you. I quickly read that you were going mad because of thrush without thoroughly reading the whole post, hence recommending tea tree oil which you were already using. Blush Thank you very much for not having a go at me about that.

But I have just remembered what else I did when I had thrush and that was to put a tampon into the tea tree and water mix and insert that, to combat the thrush inside as well as outside. Also are you using pure 100% tea tree oil or is it a blend - hence weaker? I always use pure so you could use a bit more if it's a blend.

nilbyname · 03/06/2014 18:03

fanny but it feels like I should be wheeled out on a wooden trolly and left for dead.

OP posts:
Gruntfuttock · 03/06/2014 18:04

Oh bugger! Now I've cross-posted with CarbeDiem.

Blush again

nilbyname · 03/06/2014 18:05

grunt no problems! I'm practically delirious with pain. It is a good tea tree oil, it's the one we use for blasting nits!

OP posts:
Thumbwitch · 03/06/2014 18:06

COLD yoghurt will help Grin.

If you are already raw, don't you be putting neat essential teatree oil on your bits, you'll DIE of pain!

Liney15 · 03/06/2014 18:08

You have my sympathies (I also recommend the bio yoghurt to help the itch). When I was on holiday once I got thrush in my mouth which was horrible and a miserable end to the holiday as all I could eat was yoghurt as my mouth was raw.

SnotandBothered · 03/06/2014 18:09

What fanny said.

Unless you are stranded, there really is no need to reproduce an olde worlde medieval witches cauldron up your fanjo.

Just get a pessary and revert to garlic & tea-tree fanjo when pessary fails to work
