Is there nothing we can do for Meriam Ibrahim beyond

signing a petition?? Surely there is something? Meriam has been sentenced to 100 lashes followed by hanging by the Sudanese government for being married to a Christian man and bearing his child. She has just given birth to a baby daughter in prison and has her 20 month old son living with her there. I can't believe there is nothing that can be done.

Well, if you've got a better plan we're all ears mate.

Amnesty International have a series of action points you can follow, including an east text to have your details to be added to a letter, plus advice on what to write and to whom if you can do a letter individually.

The only thing we can do is not forget her and keep up the pressure on the Sudanese government by our politicians and the press. While the eyes of the world are on her they are in a difficult position. If our attention wavers to the next story then she could be in very real danger.

It was announced at the weekend that she was to be freed. Now, what that actually means is anyone's guess.

If we all wrote to our MPs? Could mumsnet do a campaign to encourage that? That might give the story a new angle for the press here.

It's been suggested that we put questions on the subject to William Hague on the live webchat taking place here on mumsnet. Still seems like there must be more.
