AIBU?

To ask you if I'm going to survive juicing diet

Day 1 today. Hot water and lemon. Then just juice and water.... For 7 days. Am I going to die/shit myself/ steal food from my one year old?
I know it's a fad. But I've let myself go and I need a kick up my fat arse. Anyone done it and survived and got results?

Fasting it turns out is actually pretty good for you, or so the current thinking seems to be.

Joules, Mintychops said that she wouldn't recommend a week of juicing. She's a nutritional therapist.

I'd take her word over yours.

Yeah. So she says. Dangerous to hang onto someone's every word on the internet. I've got more sense than that!

Joules68 · 04/06/2014 15:08

lowcarb what 'dramatic results'?

Did I say I was hanging on to her every word? And I'd be a bit stupid to take advice from a random person off the internet. But I have no reason to disbelieve her. She didn't say anything stupid for a start.

Out of interest have any of the nay-Sayers on here actually tried a juice diet?
I mean actually tried one by following the Jason vale version or similar (not just downing a load of fruit juice and then having a sugar crash!)

Unless you've tried it you can't in all honesty knock it.

Most (if not all) people who have tried a juice fast/diet/cleanse pretty much rave about it past day 3.

Past day three you say dilli? Good to know. Today started well, had gone down hill. Feel rough. Will see how I am tomorrow and may introduce a salad. I've lost 11 lb and actually that seems like too much.

any old crash diet will produce fast weight loss, but does the juice diet help people to stay slim over the long term...what is it about it that makes it better than other crash diets?

Maybe half of that will be water, but it's only day 3. I'm on day one, this thread has inspired me to do it again. I'm not weighing tho as I'm not interested in weight loss really, more the health benefits

I'm doing it for both reasons joules... Kick start weight loss but also hoping to feel healthier. My partner and I have agreed we'll see have one juice a day after this, I personally do think there are nutritional benefits and better to get a bit hit of nutrients. Good luck with your juicing! Be good to know how you feel on it.

Suzanne I think if I go back to my old eating habits I will out weight back in. I wanted to use it as a way of getting my brain and body into gear for a change of lifestyle. So hopefully once this bit is finished I won't put it back on, at least not all of it.

Juicing diets are dangerous. I would't be surprised if they were a contributory factor in Peaches Geldof's death.

Erm she was on heroin?! I'd say that was more likely to be lethal than juicing up some spinach.

Lol that's a load of rubbish.... Dangerous how exactly?? Come on, link to the solid evidence....

I think I see your reasoning...kind of like drawing a line under your old way of doing things and making a fresh start?

I think you are exaggerating wildly Kein!

That's exactly it Suzanne. Fresh start. I'm really determined and it helps my partner is on board too.

My partner has a juice a day too. The haters won't like that it's cleared up a skin problem he's had since his teens.. Grin

I did buy a juicer a few years ago, quite a good way of using up extra veg before it goes past it's best but having to empty all that pulp soon got to be very tiresome and I've not used the thing in ages. Some things were nice, eg carrot, celery and beetroot, but cabbage juice gave me stomach pains, no idea why I'm fine eating raw cabbage.

These days I just eat lots of whole veggies, mostly cooked but some raw

I hate this. Juicing like most things is actually fine when done properly.

Fucking mars bars are 'dangerous' if you only eat 50 of them a day and nothing else!

It's ridiculous. I've had so many skin problems and have had friends I've reconvened juicing to as well and it has helped with acne, eczema, psoriasis, headaches, migraines, colds even periods.

If you are sensible then there's no reason why juicing can't be a healthy part of your life.
