AIBU to think that this is a weird thing for my 17 year old ds to say!

OK. My teenage kids have got some friends round tonight for a BBQ and a couple of drinks.

I just went upstairs to my bedroom and as I was in my bedroom, my 17 year old ds who had just been to the loo, walked across the landing towards his bedroom saying "right, it's my turn to sit on you bitch" to his gay friend who was in there.

I am flabbagasted! What does it mean?

He knew I heard him and just laughed it off and said I'm just joking, he didn't look at all embarresed!

Someone shed some light please!

Grin Lordy I'd rather not know I think

YussMinister · 01/06/2014 23:01

If he didn't look embarrassed when you overheard then he was just joking and larking about, in high spirits.

PrincessBabyCat · 01/06/2014 23:01

It probably means what you think it means. Grin

Make sure he knows that even gay sex needs to use protection.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow · 01/06/2014 23:02

They didn't look as though they were doing anything sexual at all, I mean they were fully clothed. didn't look embarresed either. just such an odd thing to say

God, I have no idea! I don't think I like the sound of it though.

YussMinister · 01/06/2014 23:04

He was probably trying to show off what a cool mum he has, that he felt comfortable saying a joke like that in front of you.

gamerchick · 01/06/2014 23:05

I wouldn't think anything of it, it could mean frigging anything. The teen lingo is lost on me these days.

Xbox maybe?

OxfordBags · 01/06/2014 23:06

Oh, it's just banter. It's probably the sort of daft thing they say in acknowledgement that the friend is gay. I think if they were going to have sex, he'd be more subtle, and would appear embarrassed or worried that you'd heard. Relax!

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow · 01/06/2014 23:06

No, he didn't know I was there when he said it, but he just laughed when he realised I was there.

As far as I know, ds is straight.

AuntySib · 01/06/2014 23:06

Might mean what you think it does, or maybe not .

FWIW, my sons ( 21 & 19 ) call each other "bitch" on occasion ,( which I think is very odd, ) but they say it's just a normal term of light abuse and doesn't really mean anything. Think it's just yoof speak.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 01/06/2014 23:07

Was he playing GTA?

pictish · 01/06/2014 23:07

It's banter OP.
It's coarse yes. But banter.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow · 01/06/2014 23:08

ok. i'll relax. Not a lot I can do anyway.

Jesus, it's like learning a new language having teenagers

Only just learnt this week what "hench" means!

OP posts:
LJBanana · 01/06/2014 23:08

He was probably just being flippant. Ask him tomorrow what he meant by it. If he wasn't embarrassed then I'm sure there's nothing to worry about.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow · 01/06/2014 23:09

Yes I think they were playing s omething on the xbox. Is that relevant?

OP posts:
YoureBeingASillyBilly · 01/06/2014 23:09
Confused

He was joking with his friend.

LJBanana · 01/06/2014 23:10

What does 'hench' mean?
I'm totally not down with the kids!

onedev · 01/06/2014 23:16

I don't know what hench means either??

ThingsThatShine · 01/06/2014 23:22

Think it's just banter

LJBanana · 01/06/2014 23:24

I'll tell you what YOLO means if you tell me what hench means.

Disclaimer-I also had to ask someone what YOLO meant (and LOL).

Shewhowines · 01/06/2014 23:27

I know what yolo means but not hench.

Please can we have a down with the yoof dictionary?

I told a young child their shoes were funky today. I only hope she was too young to realise my gaff.

DramaAlpaca · 01/06/2014 23:32

I'd say it was just banter.

My teens & their friends chat away in front of me & they might as well be speaking a foreign language as I can't understand half of what they say. I'm sure they do it deliberately.

"I told a young child their shoes were funky today. I only hope she was too young to realise my gaff." Grin

Hench means strong, muscular, well-built. Aparently.

OP posts:
whatchutalkinboutwillis · 01/06/2014 23:37

hench means big/strong/muscular eg. Arnold Schwarzenegger would be described as hench
