Hi my first post that is not a reply so please go easy
At asda today with my dad and LO
My dad was packing shopping and I was putting LO in car seat. As my dad turned to put bag in boot a little gust of wind that seemed to come from nowhere took the trolley and it hit the next car. Bloke go out and screamed at my dad.
My dad went over to check the car and their was no damage and I did the same. There was not even a scratch and my dad really apologised
The bloke then said "apologies are not going to pay for the damage" My dad said "there is no damage". He then called my dad a c**t and he wants his insurance details.
I then butted in and said "ok then we will show these to the insurence company and by the way you cant claim on my dads insurance as his car was not involved but just in case you want to look silly" I got my mobile out and started taking pictures. Guy (he was huge) tried to grab my phone then should over me looming. My dad then asked him to move away and an asda employee came up.
The bloke said "you will hear from me I have your reg, got back in his car and drove off.
Incidentally I did get pictures of the whole car, where the trolly hit and my dads car in relation to his.
Was my reaction wrong

Nope. I'd have insisted on taking photos too. Hope you are all feeling a bit better.

cantbelievethisishppening · 30/05/2014 22:27

cheepsskram · 30/05/2014 22:28

Nope. I'd have insisted on taking photos too. Hope you are all feeling a bit better.

Ewieindwie1 · 30/05/2014 22:30

Poor you - a genuine accident and this idiot thinks he has the right to behave like a thug. Put it out of your mind and don't worry. I'm just glad your dad was there x

Lilliana · 30/05/2014 22:30

Well done for getting pictures. I wouldn't expect to her from him anytime soon!

Lilliana · 30/05/2014 22:31

Grr hear

samsam123 · 30/05/2014 22:34

very brave of you well done you acted superbly

PassTheCakeitsbeenatough1 · 30/05/2014 22:35

DNBU - that bloke sounds like a twat. I doubt you'll be hearing from him again, especially as he knows you have evidence to dispute and prove his claim to be fraudulent (assuming a claim). He'll get home, rant about it for a while and then forget about it.

I don't underrated people who invest so much emotion in their mode of transport. Of course it's annoying when your car is scratched or when someone bumps it but it's not the end of the world. I know that repairs can be costly, and sometimes the damage done can be worse than the outside of the car would suggest but when it's a scratch or a something small bumping it to cause a cosmetic issue it's pathetic to get so emotional!

Try to forget about him OP.

mindthegap79 · 30/05/2014 22:36

What a nightmare, well done you for standing your ground and taking pictures. He sounds like a chancer. I highly doubt you'll hear from him again but if you do you've got pictures and witnesses, and maybe cctv? Have a Wine and forget about it.

WorraLiberty · 30/05/2014 22:40

Of course your reaction wasn't wrong, did someone tell you it was? Confused

Well done. I hope he feels very silly when the insurance company laughs at him.

PrincessBabyCat · 30/05/2014 22:42

YABU

You should have put a foot up his ass while you were at it.

deakymom · 30/05/2014 22:48

car insurance won't cover you for a trolley bump what was he thinking?

Lancashiregal10 · 31/05/2014 03:18

Thanks everyone for replying. Feel a lot better now :)

I Second car insurance does not cover trolley accidents, even if he reports it. if you have his number plate on the picture report him for assault , what a fuckwit he is!

hakunafrittata · 31/05/2014 04:48

This guy sounds as low as a microscopic organism feasting on the bacteria of a turd nugget. You should have rammed the trolley into his bollocks.

Get the name of the ASDA employee who witnessed the guy threatening you, if the employee witnessed the guy physically trying to take the phone out of your hands even better. Hopefully nothing will come of this but just in case it would be very useful to have this info.

Tangerinefairy · 31/05/2014 20:56

Your reaction was spot on. What a shame you had the misfortune to bump into such an awful, opportunistic idiot. It wasn't your dad's fault or yours and his car wasn't even damaged. Try not to worry, you have proof and a witness.
