to utilize visiting children as a disposal unit for the stuff in my freezer I want gone before we go away on Monday?

Usual stuff;

3 potato waffles
A pizza
2 chicken pies
Half a bag of nuggets

Some eggs
Frubes
Apples
Strawberries
Sausage rolls
Large glasses of milk
etc...

They're fine with it. I bigged it up as a kind of 'buffet lunch'.

Thought I'd double check here though. Would you be fecked off if your children were provided with a weird mis-mash of foodstuffs rather than a proper thought out meal? Or wou;ld you just be happy that they were fed?

In my defence, they're here very often and I usually have a fridge of well thought out delights for their arrival.

Not today though. I have feck all.

None of it's out od date. I just want it gone.

Will most likely do them all pancakes for tea.

sounds great, can I come?

Mouldypineapple · 29/05/2014 12:20

Cant see a problem. most kids are happy with food. Any food!

erin99 · 29/05/2014 12:24

This kind of thing is a treat in our house. I call it a "bits and pieces tea", I put pudding and main on the same plate and they can eat it in any order they like. Of course it's fine.

Mojito100 · 29/05/2014 12:26

I want an invite to your house. I'm an easy going mum mind you. When at mine the rule is raid the fridge and pantry for whatever you like and don't wait to be asked:). My kids would have been stoked.

popmimiboo · 29/05/2014 12:28

What a good idea. They'll love it. You get to avoid waste. Result :-)

meditrina · 29/05/2014 12:30

Sounds fine.

But only 3 waffles? This could end badly.

Ploppy16 · 29/05/2014 12:30

I'm sending my kids round this afternoon, they'll be there shortly Grin
Seriously YANBU, a child IS a repository for food and it's your duty to facilitate the predisposition to Hoover up food like they haven't been fed in a week.
diaclaimer this may just be my DS and his mates....

Wookiemonster0 · 29/05/2014 12:34

Good lord, what are you thinking, where are the micro salads and the reduced sauces?
Grin
My DSs would view that as a treat. I'd be fine with it and mainly be grateful that you had them for long enough that they needed to be fed! Half term seems quite long when it's raining..

KingJoffreysBloodshotEye · 29/05/2014 13:02

disclaimer this may just be my DS and his mates...

It's not.

They were here yesterday. They made themselves a snacky lunch - crisps, yoghurt, fridge raiders, etc, then DP popped out to get something and returned home with a Happy Meal each shortly after.

2 hours after that DS was asking for tea because, they felt like they hadn't eaten for 20 years!

Hmm Hmm Hmm

Anyway, they've been given they're mad buffet and one friend declared that it was the best meal she's ever had.

Might do this monthly...

Wink

Known as the freezer surprise day here
Once a month before the big shop any random item left or about to go bad gets eaten

Monopolice · 29/05/2014 13:07

Call it "Free for all Thursday" - they can eat all they want of whatever they want from the freezer Shock Grin

Andrewofgg · 29/05/2014 13:19

My mouth is watering!

Let them enjoy. DW and I used to call one of her brothers the swill-bin because he would clean up left-over anything - but that was before he met his DW (a lovely person) who controls his urges - at least as regards food.

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 29/05/2014 13:32

Grin at free for all Thursday and Freezer Surprize Day. It's food, and there's more choice than usual, not a problem. Until they all want the same, but there's always pasta, popcorn or a trip to the chippy. :)

Jayne35 · 29/05/2014 14:49

YANBU at all, we have similar at month end, I call it 'skint tea' as it's just before payday and there are odd and sods to use up.
